Nice work on the clean up, looking good!
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

That cleaning job on a 10 year old vehicle is awesome - it looks great.  Makes me embarrassed about the state of my vehicles right now!

Did you limit your search to Escalades only?  Or any Yukons considered?  And for availability, what was the split between regular and long wheelbase, or the Escalade-Avalanche thingee?

Wow, very nice find.
Bigger wow with the clean-up.      Especially with the carpets.  What did you use to clean them?

This just makes me think about how dirty our Crosstrek is inside... last couple weeks has hauled around many bags of soil/mulch/plantlife my mini rototiller etc...
It is bad need of a major cleaning.

Good looking unit for a big bruiser. Hopefully it treats your lady well.

I'm always surprised how nasty people can let their vehicles get. Totally generalizing here but often the ladies are much worse - their vehicle is an extension of their purse. I once bought a $50 Ford Tempo that was so covered in dog hair it took me days to clean. Ugh.

Great job on the clean up, and great price too!

Thanks for the compliments guy - I still need to scrub the 3rd row seats, and I have absolutely no desire to after all this.
Sask, search was (mostly) limited to Escalades. If it were me I probably would've gone Tahoe Z71 for the manual 2wd/4wd setting instead of the AWD in the Slade. Like I said though, Mrs.Firm had always wanted one of these, so I figured this was a good time to make her happy with little sacrifice on my part.

On the carpets I used Mr.Clean mixed with warm water and a scrub brush. On tough spots I would soak the spot in straight Mr.Clean first, then scrub. If that didn't work I'd soak the spot in Resolve carpet cleaner, then scrub some more. There's actually a couple spots I couldn't get out entirely, but I've got some industrial strength carpet cleaner in the basement that I am going to try when I get a chance - my focus last weekend was to get the dirt/smell out of it.

I have had good luck with Little Green carpet machines. Pretty cheap too.

That was the case with the former Lady O. Every time I got into the car, I would have to clean out old food and pop containers and sundry garbage. It drove me nuts. The house was always immaculate, but when it came to the garage and car, apparently a mess was acceptable.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Yep, she loves it. Today it's in the shop, so I drove the Firebird and left her the T/A because she's only running a couple local errands....she's been texting all day asking when the Slade will be ready  ::)

Heard from the shop. All it's going to need for safety is emergency brake shoes (which I sorta knew already) and a transmission cooler line, which is apparently slowly leaking. Not bad for 227K.

Firm, how much life do you anticipate getting out of the Slade?  Is this a 400k ride or something you would be content to keep for, say, two years?

I am actually hoping to push it as far as I can. I've seen plenty on kijiji around the 400k mark, so that would make me happy. I am big on maintenance and don't mind doing repairs, as long as they're not in excess. Provided that the engine/driveline hold together and the body doesn't total rot out I'll keep it going.
My 84 Camaro is sitting at 325,00kms on the original driveline and body work; still looks and drives like new. The Escalade is a little more complex, but not by a whole lot.

Our family is good friends with a equine Veterinarian, his 2005 Yukon Denali had over 450,000 kms on it when the original transmission started to slip in between 2nd and 3rd gear. My brother in law bought it off him to pluck the engine and build it up for his 96 S10 truck. That 6.0 has over 150psi in all cylinders and still makes excellent oil pressure, these engines are certainly stout.

If you need any nick nack parts Firm let me know, I remember how flimsy the interior parts on these trucks are. I'll be around that Denali next weekend, it's pretty complete and headed to the wreckers soon.

Thanks Rev,
There's probably a few interior clips I could use, but it's hardly worth the effort. These things are polluting the scrap yards around here, so I am just gunna hit one up to grab a new headlight assembly and I'll get whatever I need then.

Annoyingly, I picked up the truck tonight from the shop that did the safety for me (small shop - owned by a friend of my dad's). Sat in traffic for 45 minutes to get to the highway and when I finally hit 110km/h it started vibrating something awful. At that point I was determined to get home, so I drove home and noticed that they'd moved the wheels around, probably moving a poorly balanced tire to the front.  >:(
I am in no mood to start jacking this thing up to play musical wheels....so it's going back tomorrow. Thankfully my dad offered to drop it off, since it's a serious pain for me to get time off work to drop stuff at this shop (they don't have a damn key drop box!)

And to think...I almost had this thing on the road without any B.S.....Sooo close  :'(
