Now how long before you appropriate it for the track?  ;-)

Nice car!  I love that retractable fastback.

She would kill me if I took it to the track, lol.

When we had our NA Miata, my wife loved it but wished it was a coupe like the concept they built.  Ours was also yellow, lol

So, what are you doing with her 128, selling it or trading it in for the Miata?

Awesome choice!  Were you able to test drive a ND Miata before making your final decision?  The Mazda dealer here in Fredericton says that they were almost impossible to find on a lot across Canada.  Were there any other vehicles you were considering before choosing the Miata?

According to mazda.ca you can't order until Monday and there are only 50 units. Congrats on snagging one.

I received an email with pre-order code and link because I signed up for information.

So, what are you doing with her 128, selling it or trading it in for the Miata?

I'll use her 128i as a daily and we can get by with one car through the winter until the MX-5 (I will store the M3)

We've test drove an NC GT a few years ago, but we have not driven an ND yet.  Wing took me for a few laps in one at Calabogie this summer and I was very impressed - I think she'll like it a lot.  She loved our NA.

Her mandatory criteria - non convertible, small, cute, fun-to-drive sporty car with a manual transmission.  Convenience, number of seats, number of doors, hatch vs sedan vs coupe, and drive wheels (RWD/FWD/AWD) were not factors at all.  She didn't want an SUV/CUV.

She had a pretty small list including the Mini Cooper S and Fiat 500 Arbath, but the reliability records of those are not great.  She likes the look of the 2-series, but it's not different enough from the 128 (which we'll be keeping).

Well you definitely have a one of a kind gal that's for sure.  Most women just want an automatic CUV/SUV.  Her other choices (Mini and Fiat) are also very interesting choices.  I'm sure she'll love the ND if she has fond memories of the NA.  Can't wait to see it and read about impressions when it comes in.  Will you be putting winter tires on it and driving it year round?

Congrats Norman. Good choice.
Thanks.  When she gets it, I'll bring it to next Ottawa meet up.

Yeah she's quite different (e.g., totally not into jewelry).  She's not comfortable driving an automatic and has probably only driven one once in the past 25 years.  She hated the SUV that we got in the 90s (5spd Izusu Rodeo) and has not forgiven me for trading in her Mazda MX-3 (with the 1.8L 24V DOHC V6).

We'll get winters and drive it year round.  We drove the NA in winter (with an LSD and hardtop) in Ottawa for 10 years.  She's retired, so on really bad days, we can get by with one car.

Music to my ears, somebody driving an MX-5 in the winter.  That's what I will do when I (eventually) get one.  Except that days (average of 12 per season) that forecasts more than 7cm during the day.  Can always take the other vehicle during those days.

Little confused, only 1000 units?  Like ever? Very sad, if that's the case.
