There are some bad drivers on the road... my co-worker is SCARY.  Like she hits someone in a parking lot at least every month.

I noticed that as well, but police aren't going to hit drivers for everything they do that's contrary...but going into oncoming traffic...yeah...dumbass.

That driver is either oblivious or just didn't care.  You are quite right we see worse than that every day; which is a sad statement of the quality of drivers.

co-worker bought a brand new civic on Saturday.  Her first car.  She asks me today "What do I do if I get into an accident?"

She was rear ended on her way home from the dealership.... ouch.

I don't think I could work in an auto factory.  Seeing my work go out the door with a promising life, only to be treated with such disrespect by idiot drivers, smokers (in the car), kids' shoes, etc.  It makes me cringe just thinking about it.

...but the worst is the likelihood of a vehicle being in an 'accident', err, collision.

Sadly, this didn't surprise me as ppl around here drive in turn lanes as if they were made for VIP commute. And then they collide with other geniuses who decide to cross 4+ lanes of traffic when exiting a gas station.
