Latest on LG battery packs of the near future:
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2015/05/5-key-developments-in-the-electric-car-world/index.htm

Quote
LG Chem, a Korean chemical engineering company, announced its intention to be a supplier of larger batteries to car manufacturers who are interested in longer range EVs. LG Chem is targeting a 200-300 mile range battery pack. The company contends that currently most EVs with their 75-90 mile range have a limited appeal and that hinders the potential for market growth. Currently, only the Tesla Model S possesses a truly long-range battery pack. To that end, LG Chem says it would begin to offer large capacity lithium-ion batteries that hold between 80 and 120 kWh. LG Chem is already a supplier for the Chevrolet Volt. For those who remember, GM announced this past January that the Bolt, a new pure EV that will go into production in 2016, will have a 200-mile range. It’s easy to connect the dots—the Bolt might be the early bird to incorporate such a long-range battery. Such long-range EVs have the potential to dramatically shake up the electric-car landscape and appeal to a larger audience.

Ford Opens EV Patents.

Ford announced Thursday May 28 2015 that it will make its electric-vehicle patents available to competitors for a fee in order to help speed up development of the technology.

Ford says that it holds more 650 patents related to hybrid and electric vehicles, with more than 1,000 still pending.

Method and Apparatus for Battery Charge Balancing, patent No. US5764027: The patent covers passive cell balancing: discharging a cell through a resistor to lower the state of charge to match other cells. This innovation extends battery run time and overall life. This is the first invention to enable battery balancing at any time, instead of only while charging, and it enables the use of lithium-ion batteries in electrified vehicles. It was invented long before lithium-ion battery-powered vehicles became commonplace – truly ahead of its time.

So first Ford trolled the patent office and now their lawyers may go after anyone who uses an outdated BMS in their cars, unless they pay up the "inventor" first.
This needs to be abolished since it wastes everyone's time and hinders progress.

Which will hopefully make more model S available for the used market and drive the prices down  :)

I see cars all the time with camo (close proximity to Detroit).

Doesn't mean they are ready for prime time...

There is nothing about this "SUV" that Tesla couldn't possibly do. Delorean doors may be a challenge, but most important there is demand for this type of vehicle and powertrain.

Not sure why they keep delaying them, the batteries, motors, software is the same as the S. I agree with EV Dan that they probably struggled with the gullwing doors more than the anticipated.

So, will the Model X be the fastest to 60 mass produced SUV? It could be faster than the stock GC SRT 6.4L  :D

Used prices are being driven by the Tesla CPO program.

The lowest prices on a-trader are being beaten by the prices Tesla is offering with a car reconditioned like new with 4 year warranty.

The X reveal and sales will certainly cause a lot of trade-in cars to become available, driving used prices lower as you noted.

But right now, there are some reasonable prices in the CPO market....

That's not the Gigafactory.  The Gigafactory is in Nevada.  This is it here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p64V9kawqw

The former NUMMI plant in that video is the main factory where Teslas are built IIRC.

Oops. You're right. I stand corrected. I was wondering why there were so many brand new Teslas parked on the lots.  :-[
