all this recent Maserati talk has me craving for a nice collector Ghibli. 2.0TT V6, huge power and nice 90s wedgy styling.

^ My italiano wife says I should have bought one of those.  I would want the Abarth version.
But.. still not sold on the styling.. it just looks off... looks too much like they just lopped the nose off the mx5 and stuck on a (too big) Fiat face.
I agree with you there.  The Miata looks great.  Something doesn't look quite right on the Fiat.  It looks a Charger or Dart nose has been shrunk down and grafted on.  I'm not diggin' it...

Spotted a VW Phaeton today, forgot about those. Has me wanting one. Seems to be only V8 models in Canada for sale, if I bought a Phaeton, I'd certainly be going full retard and getting the W12 model.

Been thinking about a Tahoe/Yukon and 4Runner lately.  Surprised the aren't much used Tahoes/Yukons online to chose from.  The 4th gen 4Runner keeps catching my eye, I won't do any off roading.  But the 7000lbs tow capacity of the V8 is very attractive.  When I upgrade the trailer in 2-3 years.  The ones were are looking at will have a dry weight of 4000lbs.  So I need something that has a rating of 6000lbs.  So the V6 isn't good enough.

But the V8 has the issue where transfer case can leak, and one has to split the transfer case, remove the actuator, and change the "O" ring.

These two have caught my eye

Lotta $ for those Toyota's, damn, and I've never loved the looks of that Gen...Now, the generation before that would be awesome!
$15K should buy you a really good GMT900. $10K should get you a really nice GMT800, $5-7K for a good/servicable 800.  I would (and did) end up on the latter end of that scale and after adding another 2000kms to the Escalade in the month we've had it on the road  it's been flawless. Seriously tough vehicles.

I would only consider the GMT900.  And Budget is $13-18k.  Just trying to find one that is not a Police Vehicle, not a base model, with under 200k is somewhat challenging.  But I have only been looking for a bit, and probably more interested next spring.  When the next season starts.

Our VP here at work moved up from the U.S a couple years ago, he bought a base Tahoe out of a rental fleet. It's been trouble free, and it's black so you don't notice the black base model door handles, he's also put a tasteful set of 22"s on it and on Friday a bunch of us helped him install a Magnaflow cat-back. It's a nice truck and you've never know it was once a rental.
I also think it's sorta cool that someone in his position drives a 6 year old ex-rental Tahoe....

22"s actually don't look that ridiculous on a GMT900, the Escalade of that year would've had factory 22"s. The ones in question are not even chrome, they're like a machined look aluminum with black accents, very similar to these:

Those would look pretty good.  I think 22" looks OK on a vehicle that big, and given you still have some decent sidewall.

Tough to find < 5 year old Yukon/Tahoe around here.

I recently bought a 10 Yukon Denali for my Wife (should post in show 'n shine one day) It had the 22's on it, took them off pronto. They made the truck ride like crap, switched to 20's and much better, the Suburban we had before with 17's rode smoother yet. These trucks need some sidewall imo.

Looking forward to some photos! A Denali is likely my wife's ideal "road trip" vehicle, but she wouldn't want to drive one around town day to day.

I agree...the bigger-is-better rim mantra is confusing when it comes to SUVs.   I think the beefier sidewalls look nice, and of course ride better.
I'd never consider larger than 20's and even then that's a lot of unsprung metal to twist.

I love the 4Runner, but I think I'd stick to the GM's if you need a V8.   The used market is just so pricey for the Toyotas.

I thought the same, but Mrs.Firm seems to love the Slade around town too....something to do with the extra height and visibility, turning circle is surprisingly tight too (much smaller than the firebird she's used to)

Really??  Is the Firebird particularly awful in that regard?  Hard to believe the slade is tighter....

Absolutely, yeah, they look killer on a set of 22's or higher, but 20" would be my absolute top end for ride and tire cost issues. Luckily you can still get a cheap set of 16" or 17" steelies for winters.
Lighten up Francis.....

I don't really regard the Firebird as particularly bad for the turning circle, it's average I guess. Nothing like my Sonoma (THAT is a bad turning circle); but yeah, the Escalade is really tight, it's kinda strange.

It would be cheaper to find a crewcab pick up with a cap and short box instead of a Tahoe

Figure the Firebird would have a decent turning circle being RWD and not that long of a wheelbase.  My new Grand Cherokee has a better turning circle than the Wrangler it replaced, which was a complete surprise to me.  And don't get me started on the crappy turning circle of my old V70, that was light trying to dock an ocean liner!!  :rofl2:
