I just saw this thread late yesterday. Firstly, welcome to the club!
Thanks, this is not my 1st FGC. I had a new 3-series that was in the Show 'n Shine thread here about 4 years ago. The 3-er, while a great car, didn't hit the right chord as I always wanted a Merc since I was a little kid.
Secondly, I'm pretty sure the 2/40 CPO warranty from MB has far more exclusions than the 2/80 extended warranty that they offer for sale. The only major exclusions on the 2/80 is the stereo system, paint, trim and wear items. Also, there is no deductible. I seem to remember being told one time that if I was to buy a CPO'd car and wanted to upgrade to the 2/80 (about a $3200 cost on a ML) they would discount the car by $1200 to account for the cost of not including the 2/40 CPO and then sell me the 2/80. Did the dealer you bought from offer you the upgrade?
Yes, the CPO has a lot of exclusions. The dealer did offer me the 2/80 extended warranty upgrade at something around $3,000 but did not offer any discounts you mention to account for the cost of 2/40 CPO.
My hope was that since I am purchasing a CPO car from a dealer that it would last a year before sh1t started to happen to it. I don't mind paying extra for dealer service. I don't like dealer taking my money and offering nothing back. That's my beef.
I didn't expect the MB Tex to rip at the seam (no, it cannot be stitched back together) at 4 year mark. I got a quote to fix it for $425+HST at which point it is better to replace the cushion with a brand new one which will cost about the same.
I also expected some goodwill on the part of MB given I've only owned this car for a few months and it's a CPO. But guess what, I emailed them and haven't heard back from them. I called MB customer service, was transferred to someone who wasn't there so I left a detailed message, and they still haven't returned my call. That's what I did not expect.
I will get the car all properly fixed and will enjoy it for as long as I can. But this will be my last MB given the level service I have received so far. I expected a tad more from "The Best Or Nothing".
