What music can't you stand?

And I mean a genre, there are terrible songs in every type of music, so don't just pick on a song.


Me, I like pretty much everything... apart from SOME jazz.

I can listen to certain types of jazz, but some tunes just sound like people tuning instruments.  I can't seem to decide what key they are in or anything, the notes seem all over the place.  I don't know the name of this sub-genre, so I can't provide an example I'm afraid, maybe someone will know what I'm talking about.

Actually, maybe most jazz...  :rofl2: :rofl2:

Rap, soul.  Most musicals.   Most Opera but like many Brits of my age I have a soft spot for Gilbert & Sullivan.

i'll even listen to some country.... and some hip hop... and whatever the newest electronic thing is...

it's just some country.. and some hip hop... and some electronica... and hell, some rock and everything that bugs me. i don't like anything halfassed. i hate cliched lines, overused hooks and simple song structure... you can have one of those three, but not more... more and i don't like it no matter the genre.

just listened to "the amazing snakeheads" at the suggestion of a hipster type... looked it up and all the online guys seemed to enjoy it and rate it well... i was totally underwhelmed. i feel like the story behind the bands seems to matter more than the music... i don't care about that. give me a manufactured boy band who can make music over some interesting back-storied band who can't write a tune or chorus.

i get that music is subjective... but some of it... i am not sure if people are actually fans or they just think they should like it.

Country, most (new) rap. While I can listen to electronic it usually has to be while I'm driving solo and am tired.

I can't stand 99.9% of rap, and I also despise the modern teeny bob pop music like stuff from Taylor Swift.  In all honesty, I really can't stand 90% of today's current music.

Music has always had it's share of talentless hacks - but I've long enjoyed the hunt for the innovative, imaginative, and artists that believe in their work.

I find main stream music today has very little talent.  Not saying that there are not a ton of talented musicians out there, but I'm just speaking about general stuff you hear on the radio.  Bands are almost all gone.  Playing an actual instruments seems to not be necessary as most everything seems to be computer generated, dubbed over, etc.  When I'm not listening to Flameco Guitar, I'm usually listening to 80s hair bands.  lol

I don't care much for opera, and I really hate the genre of jazz that amounts to 'how many weird noises can I make with this'.  I like most of the jazz that you'll hear on cbc radio 2 in the evenings.

I find some 'rap' is interesting, but much of it is crap. It really is the evolution of jazz in many ways.  Including the blatant references to sex and drugs, and the self aggrandizement, that's all straight out of jazz.
