« on: March 05, 2012, 04:03:49 am »

If you get into an accident driving on unploughed streets after a heavy snowfall, can you blame the city?

Doesnt this fall under the "driving for the conditions" rule, I dont see how you could blame the city. If "you" slide out of control and hit someone, thats all on you, not the snow or ice on the road.
Lighten up Francis.....

But don't you know that in today's society nothing is ever your fault?  It is ALWAYS someone elses!

"A driver who gets into his car before the streets are plowed will have only himself to blame for any accidents that may occur."

At least 70% of Calgary's streets do not get plowed......ever.

same thing in our little town, our street last spring was impassable without at least a good set of all terrain tires, 4x4/awd and something with ground clearance. There were 2 ruts going down the street that your average family sedan would get stuck on.

There are more photos from that set, on the woman's blog: http://abimakesthings.blogspot.com/2010/12/more-snow-ventures.html

Not the typical sort of photo I'd use, but I thought it was cute (and so is she).
I used to work here.

I'd say its a Morris Oxford.... no, I agree , its likely a Minor , judging by the one piece rear side window.

Stay away from Moose Jaw in the winter, people there don't have a clue what a snowplow is. As a driver, its your job to pack it down into big icy ruts. The Lord giveth... and the Lord taketh away.

I agree that it is a Minor. Pity one cannot make out the logo on the hubcaps.   I went through a phase of thinging it was  VW beetle but that rear side window is too big I think.

Last winter, Lady Osis got high centred twice with the 08 Outback on city streets. This is a car with 8" of ground clearance, 4 snow tires and limited slip diff. The snow on our street was right up to the rocker panels. Side streets aren't plowed typically in Regina and from the sounds of things, through much of the West. Normal cars were stuck everywhere.

Coming from the East where every street and sidewalk is plowed, salted and sanded following every snowfall, I found this bizarre.

Having said that, yeah, the onus is on the driver to drive for the conditions, take public transit or stay home.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Definitely a Minor. The Oxford looks similar but bigger.

Cute picture, silly article.

It is a 1968 Morris Minor 1000.

I actually saw a Minor today. It was on the back of a trailer headed to the scrap metal recyclers :(

Yeah :(

Can't save them all. Or even most.

Pretty sure this was it in better days. Colours are pretty distinctive.
