You should just invest in a cheap code reader that works with your phone and get torque pro. You'll see what the code is. At least you can determine the urgency.
If the code reader came back with one of the millions of M-B specific codes would not Sailor have to ask the dealer what that meant? I suppose trading a phone call for a drive to the dealer is a good deal.
Bring back the days of real service manuals being available for FGCs
True, but one could run the code on a search engine and specify Mercedes Benz Bluetec with the search. That said, most codes related to engine / transmission issues are standard OBD2.
I'd also look online for purchasing the factory service manual CD. I did for my dad's 2000 ML320 and for his 2006 E320 CDI. Reasonably inexpensive (about $50 IIRC). The other thing I found was a lot of the MB forums cover common issues with details on how to fix it.
I remember on my dad's ML320, he had 3 warning lights all come on at the same time (BAS/ABS, 4ETS, ESP). Scary, right? Turns out the problem was a $12 brake light switch. Another time, you could hear this pump cycling loudly even with the car off. Searched the forums and the problem was a $30 relay that had welded its contacts shut.
