Actually, my current favourite is the new Audi TT where a configurable screen replaces the traditional gauge cluster and there is no screen in the centre stack at all. Just a beautifully designed dash.  :lick:

I think the new Q7 has the same setup and the pop-up screen is just redundant. That means you can typically have the screen retracted most of the time unless your passenger needs to use it.

Looking at more pics of the new Q7 I notice that a few CUVs are getting decidedly more wagon shaped...this and the XC90 anyhow. I hope this is a trend and the end of jellybean shaped CUVs.

Agreed.   This and the new XC90 are beautiful designs to my eyes.   Much nicer than their previous (current?) iterations.  Simpler, boxy shapes that should have longer design shelf life.

While the new one is a slim and streamlined design, which I really appreciate, it's still dizzyingly busy to me. This applies to the interior with the red accent lines. I hope it will look less so in person. The dark interior in the photos behind the link looks much better, IMO.

Also agreed.   Everything looks a little too glitzy.   Too much aluminum trim and red accent cr@p.   This is true of most new car interiors. 10-20 years ago, cars had way more buttons, but simpler designs.

After seeing many pics around the web...I have changed my opinion. It looks too much like a tall wagon. The interior is still gorgeous...

Not a bad thing.

I like the looks inside and out.  It also seems lower, more wagon than SUV which is a plus in my books.
Two of my friends and my wife's boss have a current gen Q7 and all love them.

Audi vs Volvo

http://www.carscoops.com/2014/12/face-off-new-audi-q7-vs-volvo-xc90-wpoll.html

I would like to see them compared to a Ford Flex.
Another write up suggests the new 2.0 in the Audi will be 272 bhp

Since when do you compare a luxury SUV with a mainstream SUV?

Based on the looks alone, I'd choose the Volvo before the Audi  :o

It's the 80's calling or did they copy Mazda. That is Fugly dash....Also Audi never look new. Just same old same old - fiddle with the lights and grill and hope no one notices. The still only about average when comes to reliability. Call the bank manger tho. Because it gonna cost some thing large. when needs fixing.

They both look like 'weirdly shaped wagons' and I give them both a thumbs up for it. I find wagon-shaped CUVs to be very intriguing and a positive design development. Much better than past shapeless CUV blobs.

While the lower picture isn't right I do agree.  The Q7's dash and steering wheel looks like a near carbon copy of the Mazda 3.

It's reminiscent of that period. Dash seem to have no style just oblongs with clocks.

The infotainment screen stuck in the middle should we go on.   :-*

I'll take the Volvo exterior (looks like a proper SUV, whereas the Q7 looks like a glorified Venza somehow ???)

but with the Audi interior mostly (buttons, thank ye gods!)

Volvo instrument cluster is very cool though. I hope some day we can mix-and-match cars as we please :lick:
