Awesome SUV and was at the top of our list to replace the Tribeca but when adding up the options the $60k price tag was the show stopper. The full load Venza at $44k was hard to pass up so we went that route.

A nice enough ride but not worth the dough, IMO.

I found the interior to be boring and plain.  Definitely prefer the interior of the MDX and FX to this.  The pricing is just crazy compared to the competition.

For a spindly little V6 powered Highlander in drag I could get a Grand Cherokee with a Hemi....hell, its almost in SRT-8 GC territory....Lexus, are ya kidding me?!?!?! Will this thing even tow 5000Lbs??? Never liked the RX models, neighbour had one and last winter even with snow tires, the stupid awd and traction control gave her all kinds of issues in deep snow....therefore, this SUV is truly useless.
Lighten up Francis.....

Yeah, electronic nannies are way too interfering and instead of just applying the brakes to the wheels that are slipping, they cut engine powe. So if you're in deep snow and need to create some momentum to get going by spinning the wheels a bit, good luck because Lexus won't let you and will leave you stranded.

For a vehicle of this size the fuel economy is very good and speaks of some very good basic engineering. The price may be high but Toyota sells loads of them where I live, mostly owned by people tired of taking German cars back to the dealer to be repaired so often. I know several people who own them and this is what the told me. Wives hate it when their $90k GL350 is in the shop.

A quick at Craigslist shows 2009 models, with Premium package, running at $30k. For me, that would be a much better buy, since the car is quite reliable.
I'd never join a group that would have me as a member.

MSRP on a new one is rather high, however if you know the invoice cost then you can negotiate a better price. Problem is I don't have $55,000 (on the road cost) cash lying around for a 2012 touring model. You don't need the ultra premium model, who cares about GPS when you can get a tom-tom and who cares about tv monitors in the back when you have portable ones and an ipad.

Nonetheless it is a nice ride and it's my next purchase (a 2010 model as it's depreciated nicely). The Toyota Venza it's twin is nice but the wheels are harsh riding.

Don't feel bad.  There are still some local Chrysler employees who are in denial they work for a foreign company...

We can gripe all we like about the Lexus and the pricing, but something must be right, because the RX model accounts for a whopping 60% of their sales.  That thing is a serious money maker for Toyota.

And yes, women love them.  Toyota products in general, and especially Lexus, have "something" that appeals to women buyers.  My missus has yet to meet a Toyota or Lexus she didn't want to buy save for the RAV-4.  The Venza, the Highlander, the RX, the LX, all had her wanting to take one home on the spot.  Smart?  Women make up a serious market and are real buyers, not goofs looking to test drive Mustangs...

While we're on the Lexus topic..when I was at the dealer last week I saw a color I had not seen before.  It was called Peridot Mica.  It was a deep green.  But in the sun, there was plenty of gold.  And it looked SPECTACULAR.  One of the nicest colors I've seen.  Pictures do not do it justice...

^^ That is ALOT of car for $53k. Plush, very luxurious, V8 power, AWD, and stress free. IMO, its a better choice over a new Genesis V8 sedan.

while i don't disagree that is a nice car, comparing it to a new Genesis V8 sedan isn't really appropriate...this Lexus is over 2 years old with 22k on it...that Lexus, when new is almost $90k...considering it isn't that old and is already $53k, it kind of makes me wonder what's wrong with it...where is it from, some flooded region?

New LS460 AWD is $70,810 before taxes and negotiations in the USA (where that unit is located).
