.... but the reality is that the extra effort of clicking from the Forum to the article while on a mobile device takes away the small amount of time I can devote to this forum.

This is my biggest issue with the Forum, it is not mobile device friendly so I am on it a lot less than I used to be.

I haven't used it in a while but I found the Tapatalk app not to be very intuitive. Rather than simply being a mobile optimized version of the forum it tried to do too much else.

With the advent of modern social networks forum software seems to have fallen far behind. No reason that forums can't be responsive to screen size and provide modern features.

As for the Facebook commenting, I agree with many here that it isn't the best solution. I'm not a Facebook hater but I think a lot of people want to separate their public online persona from their personal one. A better solution would have been Disqus. It still allows people to log in via social networks but doesn't force them to use their real name.

I don't think I've ever seen the Disqus comments load on those sites I've visited that use it. It just sits spinning and claiming to load, but nothing happens.

I've never investigated, because the comments on most sites are cancer.

I use tapatalk on a number of forums.  It makes life easier IMO as it removes the differences / fluff and you can concentrate on the content.

I use the BB when I have WiFi since the BB browser is the best mobile one I have used, but have moved on to a Samsung S7 as my phone (with a bunch of BB apps, so I call it my SamBerry  ;D ).  I have tried the browser that came with the phone, and Firefox for Android and they show the site the same as the BB browser.  I have also used Safari on my work iPhone, same thing.

I have heard mixed reviews on tapatalk, so have not tried it, and don't really see why I should get another app to use a web site when so many web sites are now optimized for mobile use.

I like it here, so just keep plugging away when I can, like now on coffee break  ;)

i post from work... it's my downtime... keep it up in the background on my desktop. i claim it helps me understand the industry, customer motivations, upcoming models, market perception etc... really, just keeps me from going crazy.

so for me, not much of a change other than the fact that i have to click the forum article prior to the article (i normally do it the other way around).

as for facebook... nope. i don't EVER post anything from the fb links. i've had a lot of things i'd like to say on other sites, but due to the facebook link/login, i don't... probably helps me sound less like a moron and kill braincells having an online argument with trolls.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

I won't ever use a Facebook based form/group.

http://hooniverse.com/ uses Disqus and seems to work ok.

Traditional forums do seem to be in a little bit of a decline. A shame as I see them as the ideal solution. I am not a big mobile user but I can see why that feature would important to others.

I can't recall ever paying for the use of this forum so it is hard to complain.

Oh, right, meds   :rofl2:

Agree, hard to complain when it is free, and provides a decent service, at least for me.

It might be AdBlock, not sure.

I looked to see if it loaded on Hooniverse. Nope. Just this:

Have no clue if it related, but in the Goof of the Month article, there was this note at the top of the picture at the end of the article:

"Your page is in Quirks mode, Galleria may not render correctly. Please validate your HTML and add a correct doctype."

What does this mean?

I've noticed in the last few days the trader site in general is insufferably slow - hopefully they rectify that.

Searching for cars, viewing links, etc, included.

I second that. My experience with AutoTrader is that it gets bogged down pretty quickly, and not just recently.  It's a complicated site to be sure, but very poorly maintained.

So I am using tapatalk,  not the most user friendly thing but better than the web based version of the forum when using the phone for posting.

Grr, no edit function?
