Chevrolet's Monte Carlo followed the "personal luxury coupe" long-hood, short-deck styling theme so popular in the 60s and 70s.

I always had a soft spot for the 80's version and many of the similar designs such as the Cutlass and Grand National.

My Mom had a late 70's version (79 I think....I had my own car by that point and didn't drive it much) As I recall it was a typical 70's/early '80's car with all the negative connotations that involves. I always think of the 70's as a sort of "Lost Decade " in terms of automotive design. ( tufted velour upholstery, vinyl roofs, opera windows, relatively poor performance and handling etc etc)
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

My uncle had a 1971 Monte Carlo in great shape for years.  Sadly, I think he sold it last year

GM stylists hit the mark with the 1973 redesign.  I still remember the new Monte Carlo a friend's parents bought in '73: rich red/maroon with a white vinyl landau roof, white interior, swivel bucket seats, 350-4V carb, dual exhaust.  It was a really classy, refined and quick ride.

I really like the 80's models, G-bodies, I think one with a nice LS motor, 6 spd swap and a little suspension work would make a great sleeper/grand tourer. When cars had proper trunks and backseats!!
Lighten up Francis.....
