Devin Townsend Project. This Canadian is pure genius, with a range I say unrivaled in almost any other musician alive. From Strapping Young Lad to this...wow.

Saw the broadcast of The Tragically Hip's last concert at Officer's Square in downtown Fredericton. They put on a great show. Saddest, greatest concert I've ever seen.  :-\

I enjoyed watching their Kingston concert on my TV last night.  Kudos to CBC for airing the show for the entire country.

We streamed it here at work last night.   As you said, great but sad.   Wish I could have been downtown for the show.

I could hardly believe it when a co-worker said they had never heard of The Hip before yesterday.  Weird thing is the guy is a musician who plays in a bluegrass band, but only ever listens to bluegrass and knows nothing of other music.  I find it amazing how some people can have such a narrow window on the world.

Had to restart it and turn it down a tad as I popped the overloads in the speakers twice .

I'm outside washing the Miata right now, I've got Tragically Hip's live album Live Between Us on in the garage right now.

We watched the concert on Saturday night too.  Would have loved to have been there. It was heartbreaking to see him break down during Grace Too.  But an otherwise great concert!

Have been on a 60’s Soul kick since hearing the “Muscle Shoals studios” episode of CBC's Vinyl Tap a couple of weeks ago. Started with this song on Youtube, then just let it play through.

My thoughts exactly.  So incredibly poignant.  PVR'd it and watched it the next day with my boyfriend (who had to work Saturday night).  He had tears rolling down.

Such a wonderful gift to all of Canada for this generation's poet laureate.  CBC did a fantastic job.

My thoughts as well!  I hadn't kept up with their newer stuff and forgot how good of a band they are.  I've seen them in concert at least a couple of times and they were always good, but they were definitely in their finest form for this show!!  :bow2:

We watched it with friends at our place while sitting around a camp fire with a big screen and audio set up on the deck.  It was quite a bizarre sight at one point to look around and see everyone all teary-eyed!  I PVR'd it as well.

Edit:  Kind of an interesting side note is that one of our friends that came over to watch was the President of the Student Union at our local uni and responsible for booking the Hip for the two shows they played here back in the late 80's, early 90's. He negotiated directly with Gord Downey and the thing he remembers most is bickering over the terms as he wanted full pay up front, but my buddy stuck with the policy of half up front, and the other half after the show.  My buddy explained that they were burned by no-show bands a couple of times in the past and Gord reluctantly relented.  I saw the first show and it was great!

There are rumours that Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, Jim Carrey, Gretsky, Akroyd, and a slew of others are in town to visit Gord.

The new Devin Townsend record.

Just cant get enough of it. Sheer brilliance. One song he wrote and recorded live on a stream in under 2 hours. Genius does not even come close.

This is a fantastic cover of a classic Led Zep song - and if you can cover Zep, you are f'ing amazing.  It's from the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie.  I love how my daughter describes the PERFECT time to listen to this song...

good track, Trent Reznor is an amazing musician. Although, I think he stole the Oscar from Hans Zimmer a couple of years ago...will never forgive him for that. But still, great track.

When I went to see that movie some dufus had the theatre audio system cranked up to 11. When that intro song came on people dropped their drinks and popcorn and ran to the exits covering their ears. I think I may have suffered some hearing damage.
