Fak that!  I'm within a few hundred kms of doubling the original mileage on the S2000.  I may even triple it before I put it away for the winter.  :skid:

Awesome!   Earlier this summer I saw a lady in an SLK drive by top down with big palm tree stickiing up over the roof line.  Probably the most practical car for that sort of thing.

Put over 1200km on the s2000 this weekend on 3 separate road trips.  I 've more than doubled the original 6740 kms that were on it when I bought it back in June.

Nice!
I spent most of the weekend working on the MGB....yeah, heck of a long weekend huh  ::)
We did take the T/A to what is likely the last "queensway cruise night" of the season for us....and then a nice t-tops off cruise down the lakeshore.

Received my new Mityvac and changed oil and filters.

Changing oil in a Merc is a piece of cake. The dealer wants $300 for it. I chose to buy the best oil for it and known good parts and do it myself.

The oil was too dark (not sludgy but almost black) for my liking and I won't go by the maintenance minder anymore. Either the dealer put crap oil during the last change or 18,000km was too long, or maybe there is nothing really to worry about but I will reduce the oil change interval to about 10k.
Anywho, 2 jugs of Mobil1 0W40 from Walmart USA, a new Bosh oil filter, Mann air filters (the old ones looked like they were never changed and filled with sand and dry insects) and the engine is purring like a kitten.

Ordered Denso Iridium plugs and those will go in next by the end of the week.

Yeah, that's very cool. I never trusted the MB oil change intervals, and I was doing mine every 7-10K when I was putting mileage on the car. Now I change it once a year. There's also something about those MB dual snorkel air intakes that seem to suck in loads of dirt....I've never seen air filters get so dirty so fast until I owned an MB.

+1 What's the deal with the pump? You don't drain the oil through the oil pan?

The pump works well for the first 5L  :) The last 3L took some elbow grease to evacuate. But that was self inflicted, I guess, and I will make a minor modification next time. The hose that goes into the dip stick hole isn't perfectly straight and the tip isn't cut square, so it sucks air along with the oil making the process longer. Also the more the canister is filled with oil the more the weight of the oil counters the vacuum you create by pumping the air out. So next time I will empty the canister completely after ~4L.

Overall I am very happy. Also happy knowing I put good stuff in it with new filters.

Mercedes has been doing it for 20+ years. The place where the hose touches the oil pan is in its lowest point, that's how it was designed to make sure everything gets pumped out. This topic has been discussed ad nauseum on MB forums  :) and the consensus is it's safe to do that. Having the top mounted oil filter makes that decision even easier. Everything is done from the top with no mess at all.

Now, with the Odyssey I will drain since I am going to be underneath the car anyway to replace the oil filter.

Picked up a used transmission box and a new clutch kit for my 2007 Mazda 6. The donor car for the transmission  was a 2008 with 73k on the odo. Mine has 185k, 3rd  gear syncro is gone and grinds every time now and reverse light is always on even though I got a new switch... disconnected now.

Had front brake rotors and pads replaced yesterday. Wish I had taken a picture of those old rotors. The holes were filled with baked in brake dust from the pads, and was badly grooved. All steering wheel pulsations and brake dust is history now. Also had iridium plugs installed in place of original Bosch.

had a product used on my wife's car(patriot)... i'll shoot up some pics when i get a chance. http://restorfx.com/ that stuff... the local guy who does it came by the dealership and gave me a trial vehicle from my used lot 6 months back... i was super impressed. not for all paint issues, but for some of the ones i get (like a black daily rental washed once a day with a crappy cloths/products) it really does do a great job...

the paint looks new... and my whoopsies that i had done to it (squeeze past it in a garage, forgetting i had sandpaper sticking out of my pocket!) are hardly noticeable. got it done as a treat from my dealership, so the price was right! think they charge close to 300 bucks normally.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

Reapplied RainX to the Corolla - all windows and side mirrors.  Buffing it down perfectly takes some time, a lot of effort, and I honestly hate doing it.  But fak-me do I ever love the results.  I tend to get 3-4 months of pure water beading, depending on the season (lasts longer in the summer, naturally).
