This thread needs a lift! I wish I had a lift in the garage like some members here but I'd probably have to cut the concrete pad and reinforce it etc. There was an excellent thread on garagejournal on how to do it properly (strength of concrete required, how to key it in to the existing pad etc.) but I can't find it...
Found it:
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=263351Back to mine, I am finally getting around to painting the garage floor. I've got about 2/3 done now, maybe 3/4 ? I have to do the little "workshop nook" in the back left corner. I had wanted to do porcelain tiles (outdoor/frost rated, high coefficient of friction when wet etc.) but I've neither the experience tiling nor the $ to pay someone else to do it; furthermore the garage is 1/2 full of stuff and a professional might want me to clear it out so they could do all of the work in one or two stages, which would be another PITA. Also, tiles individually are not expensive, but there's ~376 sq ft of floor to do so the cost for the approved tiles/thin set/flex-additive adds up quickly. So, cheap floor paint it is. I know it's going to lift/peel, so I'll just re-paint as necessary.
I wish I would've taken some fresh pictures of when we first got possession of the house, but there's none, or I just cannot find them on this computer. I have one picture without the storage shelf in the back right corner. First time building something like that, I should've taken pictures since I did it wrong and those in the know would probably shake their head
It looks like it's free-standing but it's tied into the wall studs quite securely, and it can't tip forward as it fits so tightly into the corner the top of the vertical's won't budge. I used
plenty of angle brackets and wood screws.

No storage shelf:
Floor 2/3 done? 3/4 done?
To do list:
1. Clean and paint the remaining floor.
2. Paint the steps leading up to the door.
3. Install overhead cabinets and storage in the back left corner.
4. Paint the vertical foundation walls that run the perimeter of the garage.
5. Install at least two more fluorescent lights, over on the left side of the garage.
6. Install a shed in the back yard and get the tire racks and winter tires out, along with the snowblower.
7. Pondering a highlight stripe around the perimeter but I'm no painter and it might turn out terrible
8. Perhaps replace the "tables" in the back left corner too, they're actually a Canadian Tire modular shelf system that isn't really stable.
Hallowe'en is coming soon so instead of taking down the spider I'll just leave it up...
