If someone says Fire, Tornado, Flood, etc....I am out of there!

Wonder if insurance covers this?  Or if they will say "act of god" and try to weasel out of paying?

The wife and I talked about this and we would have been gone days ago. I hope Wonderboy will come both barrels blazing at any of these sketchy ass insurance companies trying to weasel out of responsibilities

We live within sight of a nuclear power plant.  We have a GTFO Bag ready to go.  In case.  Plus living near the shore, who knows if/when a flood can strike.

There is no act of god in Canadian insurance.  One's policy lists perils and exclusions.  Destruction by fire is a most common and normally insured peril.

The big problem is most ppl will not have guaranteed replacement cost.  PPL in trailer parks will be really screwed because of what has happened this year to the price of all types of trailers which are all made in the USA.  To compound all of this is the fact that building material and labour will be in very short supply thus sending cost skyward.

Expect a rate increase.

I just  spent the last 15 hours working along side an amazing ESS contractor staff and Shell logistics team that managed to house and shelter thousands of adults, seniors, children, dogs, cats, birds and lizards that were forced to evacuate their home from Fort McMurray! The team did an unbelievable job of getting people settled into rooms, at times having to squeeze families of four into a twin bed room. The kitchen staff kept serving food to all those distraught and hungry people until 3 am and they are just turning over to breakfast!! So proud of the job everyone put in to make sure these folks felt safe and taken care of!!!
Now after a 23.5 hour day I am going to try and get a couple of hours sleep before we attempt to relocate these folks on flights to Calgary and Edmonton!!
So glad we could be there as other facilities were closing their doors and sending them to us because we were determined to not turn anyone away!
On top of every bed being full there are 200 cots in the gym and folks sleeping wherever they could find a flat spot to lay down!
Can't forget to mention the number of Shell staffers who volunteered helping direct people and relay information, we couldn't have done it without your help!
Amazing job everyone at Albian Sands for pulling this off!!

I did wonder if we were going to see that someone had intentionally started the fires to close down Fort McMurray and stop oil sands production by stopping the workers from working.   It would not surprise me to see that.
