I hope the 370Z does not resemble the RX-8 in terms of sales (in its final years), and died a slow death in the showroom even with big number discounts.

It will, it's a bargain, but it still won't sell.

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

I dunno - if they actually have them they might sell - if they market it and really want to move them.

Personally I'd go for a base WRX - different animal yes, but still a performance car.

But at $30k, how would it do against the FRS/BRZ?  That is what really intrigues me.  The FRS/BRZ have a lot going for it in terms of size and weight.  Where it is lacking is in the power department.

I would likely get one if I haven't traded my car 7 months ago for about the same price. For me that is pretty cheap! There is no faster car for that price.

Who cares about 6% finance from a dealer? Fack, buy this cash or get a rate that's less than half that from your own source.

You're describing never, never land.  Young fellas looking for a cheap new Z don't have cash and don't have a source of their own.

Besides, with some backbone one can walk out of a Ford store with a base Mustang GT for 37K plus HST @ 0%60 mth. which makes the GT cheaper.  :o  More if you have Costco and/or X-plan.

I doubt it. That's the price of some Ecoboost models. I've never seem a GT for less than 45k.

A base GT is $37,349 or $39,099 with freight and A/C tax.

That's the website price. You won't find anywhere else for that price.

So you can't order yourself a base GT and pay MSRP?  ???

You can.  And if you pay attention and are patient, you will most likely be able to a GT Mustang at $33-34K base + fees/tax(es) this summer like every other summer when they do massive allowances.  Nissan is doing this much better though with press release etc.  If Ford were smart they would do one too as not many people know you can get 430hp for so little money.

Let's leave fantasy land for just a moment.  There is not one GT base model in Ontario.  Dealers are not ordering base units.  Generally, GTs at Ontario Ford stores currently start @ 47K plus.

Allocation is so tight on these 2105 Mustangs.  One has about 4 weeks left to order any kind of Mustang.  If one was to order a base GT today I guarantee you that your "discount" would not cover the $1750 freight charge.

But then who is going to go to the effort to order a base GT and not get the Performance Package ???  No one!

That pops the price to a more reasonable $42800.

Now back to the Flintstones.  :)

I went to my local Nissan dealer with my wife (!) today and yes, they should be able to get me one and yes, it's available at MSRP.  No extra gouging would be added.  4 colours:  white, black, red, and silver.

Now the question is...do the new ones blow up at the track with less than 3/4 of a tank and turning left?  Little bit of research needed.  Btw, they will call me as soon as they have a 6 speed Touring Coupe in stock so I can drive one and see if I like it.  Seems like a bargain, but I guess I would be remiss if I didn't cross-shop a Mustang.

What's extra gouging?  Who exactly told you that these stripper Zs were exempted from the Admin Charge, Protector Plus and colour charge that ppl pay everyday on Altimas for example?

I think you should count on $32,700 plus HST over the curb.

Yup, just call me naïve.  Clearly the salesman lied.

Yup, just call me naïve.  Clearly the salesman lied.

It is what I was saying at the beginning of the thread.  Since there is so little gross on this particular car it will go at MSRP.  So the sales person is being accurate on the price.  What the sales person can't promise is that the usual dealer fees, colour charge, and standard add ons will be removed.  That's just not his call to make.

If for some miracle it goes out at MSRP then it will be $32K plus HST, but plan for $32500. min.

The Ecoboost with PP, with standard $1K discount would be $32,400 and that would @ 0%60mths.  All Ford dealers automatically include $300 ADmin Charge.  Tunes are $600.USD and net 50 HP and 80 lbs. over stock alledgedly.

Are the tunes done via Ford? And more importantly, do they warranty the tune ?

Probably not much out there because the problem was solved so people don't post since there is nothing to complain about.  But if you want more confirmation, I can provide you with contact info for a shop that I deal with.  They know these cars well as they mod them and they have run them on the track.

No, aftermarket.  Powertrain warranty would be toast.

Announced on Dec 24, 2014

Expected to be ready by the end of 2015, Ford is developing custom engine calibrations for the new 2.3L EcoBoost engine, modifying the engine’s performance with Ford’s calibrations loaded into the ECU via a Ford Racing ProCal handset (currently available for other Ford vehicles for $595) that adjusts several engine parameters.

Ford reports that ECU programming adjustments have resulted in performance gains of up to 90 lb.-ft of torque in other Ford vehicles such as the Focus ST
.

Still very speculative and a little a little suspicious.  Why would something like a tune take a year from the original manufacturer?  Is this a marketing story of false hope?

Torque News is by far the worst purveyor of false information on the internet.
Yup.  Torque is cheap.  :rofl2:
