Got the oil changed at the dealer. $119 including a $16 oil filter and what I can only assume to be $9.73/L mink oil. ;D

They did a complementary wheel alignment check, washed the car, and did the interior including the windows, so I'm ok with the cost, I guess.

Is that the 15k service?

Is the oil change interval 15 k now?
They still use castrol 5w40 right?

Dont think 15k would work with that oil.. i used to do every 8k and change to 10k in the last couple years and im burning oil now, about half a liter...

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

did the semi-annual wash and wax over the weekend.

not too much swirls so just did a all-in-one (polish/seal product) on hood and trunk and roof  then layer of wax.

.

can't believe i've had this thing for nearly 5 years now.

I am at 75K+ so have done 5 oil changes on my car with Castrol 5W-30, it never uses a drop between 15K oil changes.  My BMW did, but the VW doesn't.

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

I assumed minor oil consumption between changes was acceptable. Based on a variety of factors of course, but if I have to top of 1 litre between 10-15k, wouldn't be alarmed.

Changed the belts on the Escalade today. It has a big serpentine belt and a smaller belt for the A/C compressor; took almost exactly 8 minutes to change them both  ;D

Started changing rotors and pads on the rx8.   Only $300 for all 4 rotors and all 4 brake sets for the track.   Sweet deal.

Had to take the back driver wheel off the Jeep to inspect the brakes, odd rust patter developing. Also had wanted to test out my new BL7000-SLX Quick Jack lift:

Odd rust in the middle of the swept area on the driver's side rear rotor:

It costs way too much, however so does everything else (I must be getting old).
The 7K lb rated one is $2,163. There's also 5000lb and 3500lb rated units.

Installed a Rugged Ridge trailer hitch on the Jeep and picked up a Kuat Transfer 3 so the family can go biking out of the neighborhood; Ottawa shuts down the parkways on Sundays for non-motorized use and the wife wants to get the boy out for that.

Useful if you don't have room for a real lift which is about the same price.

For sure. Plus they're portable for you track day guys  ;) Quick Jack I can just put into the back corner and haul it out when it's needed. From reviews I've read the couplings on the Quick Jack have improved a bit since version 1.0 so the initial reviews from around 2014 don't really apply (I had no leaking from the quick connect couplings etc.). Everything was packaged neatly in a clear plastic form molded to each part, no parts missing.

I think in my garage the MaxJax would work too. However, with the winter parking I'm paranoid about the anchors being subjected to the salt water mixture dripping from the cars and damaged/weakened over time from it.  If we ever get a 3-car then I could dedicate one bay to a MaxJax...

Dang craigg,
Im so jealous for that lift.

My garage ceiling is only 8 foot, so i cant put lift in it.
