It's official: my car earned its fgc status.
No more heat being sent to my very cold feet. Closing all vents, choosing "floor" and spinning the fan to the max one hears lots of air stuck in a closed box. The dealer is booked for the 27th, so we'll see if the car is to fault, or if I have a dead mouse in there somewhere. It's a real possibility, with the Golf often parked for weeks at a time in remote press fleet parking lots.
Service loaner has me doing a fine Sir O' impersonnation: white 2016 Passat.
How does the Passat compare to the Golf in terms of driving dynamics and interior quality?
My 4th VW in 4 weeks: 2017 #PinkBeetle (now on Trader), my TDI, 2017 Golf Comfortline TSI (upcoming Trader feature) and now 2016 Passat Comfortline (service loaner). All three gas cars had the same drivetrain: 1.8 TSI with 6-speed auto. For some reason, the Passat is the most tossable of the bunch, and the one that felt the lightest on its feet, despite being the biggest and heaviest. Great turning radius for such a long limo, excellent visibility, high-mounted rear-view mirror doesn't hide cars or pedestrians at intersections, thin A-pillars. Maybe it's a bit soft, but on our roads it was damn-near perfect. Steering lighter than the Golf, but as precise. Engine sounded better here than in the two smaller cars. Honestly, I'm having more fun with this than the Golf TSI.
Great IP design, simple and elegant, a tribute to early '70s S-Class Benzes. Poor storage, door panels look cheaper than Golf's. Excellent seats.
