99% of country music.  80+% of rap music.

^ This. To which I'd add 100% of hip-hop. And Celine makes me  :hurl:

Yup, pretty much same here.

Punk should not have been recorded.  It's about the live performance.  Seeing The Dead Kennedys and Black Flag in small venues was amazing - listening to it at home, well, just not the same at all.  I listen to it out of nostalgia for the performances, not the music itself.

As far as certain genres go I've never heard any gansta rap, or death metal that I liked.  Other than that I'm pretty well open to anything as long as its done with purpose.  I'm actually more open minded now than when I was younger and like nothing more than discovering new talent, or rediscovering old.

Bands are almost all gone.

There are tons of good bands out there. Just not on Virgin 99.9

Not saying that there isn't bands out there, and good ones at that, but no way in heck that today's music is band oriented like the previous decades.  Most music you hear now are solo artists, which are typically terrible IMO.

I can't stap 99.9% of rap, and I also despise the modern teeny bob pop music like stuff from Taylor Swift.  In all honesty, I really can't stand 90% of today's current music.

Agreed, no thought required.

You'll love these then...  :rofl2:

Music has always had it's share of talentless hacks - but I've long enjoyed the hunt for the innovative, imaginative, and artists that believe in their work.

The real genius is in the marketing and production behind the "artist".

I actually find a wide spectrum of music enjoyable on various levels. The exceptions would be ... punk/ska and heavy/death metal. The first is just too teen angsty and annoying, the latter is just stupid noise.

Generic contemporary radio pop I'm okay with if its just listening in the car but won't seek it out.

Yep, the good ole days indeed.  Now, you're hard pressed to hear a guitar at all in most modern radio music.

Hey I gave you a great source to legally stream music at CD quality. You have no reasons to still be listening to the radio.  :P

The real genius is in the marketing and production behind the "artist".

This is the truth. I've met a couple of people that were involved in the music industry and the stories they tell.

Watch the movie "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never".....Found it really interesting how he went from just a kid playing on the street to being the youngest person to sell out MSG in such a short time period.

I can't stand adult contemporary, that 'soft rock' that my mom listens to in the car.  Mainstream country sucks, too.

The Beatles.

Most of hip-hop. Modern R&B. Country. Any music with stupid growling (pointing at you, death metal). Most of jazz ("hey peers, look at me, I can play, I can play"). Generally anything borne purely from the record producers and companies. Anything false and made for the wrong reasons (i.e. publicity, money).

I probably sound like a grumpy old hater, but I like to think that I'm more open-minded than 99% of music consumers today.
Fiction is the lie through which we tell the truth
