the higher off the ground the easier you tip................................ :banghead: :light: :shuffle:  ...

Yes but Subaru have excellent ground clearance with a low center of gravity from the boxer driveline.  Much better that other SUV/CUV models

Ya shoulda taken the PUMPKIN' fer Thanksgiving........that's one ugly vehicle.maybe a nicer KOLOR would reduce the dog barf factor    doubt it...I calls it a SOB ARU.. :'(   YOMD...   your opinion may differ

I think it's a cool looking car and I would seriously consider getting that colour.  Way better then the endless hordes of mindlessly dull silver and grey cars on the road these days.

Looks like a manual is available in all trims so can skip the CVT which would make up for the low power.  Definitely one of the most interesting new small cars out these days.

Cool looking little thing......too bad about that drivetrain, CVT and 150 horses......really Subaru, thats all you got. An XT/WRX/STI version with a proper auto, or god willing a standard tranny, with a nice whistling turbo would be great. Keep the 150 horses and snowmobile tranny for the manufacturers without the rally pedigree, we all know you can do better.

Same people who knock the small mill in Crosstek are probably the same ones who knock the small mill in the CX-5.  But the CX-5 is now getting the skyactiv 2.5L (and the ground clearance is pretty good at 8.2"), good for over 180 HP and 180 lb of torque.  So who knows, give Subaru some time, they may add more power.  These two CUV's are probably the most similar, with similar pros and cons, aside from the superior AWD from Subaru.  But that comes at a price, money, and fuel economy.

CX-5 has better cargo space and rear legroom, but power-wise they are similar - both lightweight with modest power.

Oddly, a lot of people find the XV or Impreza's powerful because it has one of the most aggressive throttle tip-ins this side of a subcompact. The second you prod the throttle, the car leaps ahead, a smart bit of sleight of hand from Subaru that makes it very friendly to drive in town. If only it didn't sound so irritating accelerating hard and even just cruising at hit speeds.

The value of long term testing shines when testing a AWD like this one with the recent snowfalls. Love the idea of the XT Crosstrek!

I liked it. Lady Osis loved it, so the Outback is gone and a purple (Deep Cherry) CrossTrek is now in the Osis garage.

The Outback was great, but 14.5L/100km was excessive. We bought it for camping, but that went out the window for reasons I'm not going to get into. The high resale value of the Outback meant we didn't have to payout anything even though we were less than two years into the lease.

So far Moby Grape is getting 7.9L/100km.

Congrats!

Not surprise the XV can do so well in fuel consumption in a more normal cycle of driving.

+1 - Agreed.  First you bring out the underpowered version to show its fuel economy prowess and lower base price, then you bring out the naughtier version that some yearn for as a higher-priced option.  The FB25 engine in the base Forester should fit into the XV and may in coming months if enough people show demand for such an option.

I'll keep an eye out for it next time in Regina!  I've thought the XV is fairly ugly - especially compared to the Impreza hatch - but I saw a white one on Friday, thought it looked pretty sharp with those rims.  I think the reason I've disliked it until now is because I've only seen it in that damn orange colour!  But where are the pics SirO???

If they do that the fuel mileage will suck. What's the point of that? If you want the 2.5 get the forester instead.

congrats...i've liked this vehicle since it was announced...kind of reminds me of an Outback from about 10 years ago (in terms of size)...everything is getting so big now, this vehicle seems "just right". :)

If they do that the fuel mileage will suck. What's the point of that? If you want the 2.5 get the forester instead.

umm...the mileage in the base Forester is claimed to be class-leading at 24/32 mpg...with the lighter XV, it should easily reach or even exceed that.

And what's the point?  Some people are willing to spend an extra $100-$300/year on fuel if it means more power - especially for highway cruisers - that may not want the larger footprint of the Forester.
