The OPP in the country side are using Tahoes now. Which I think would be much more comfortable then a car

Can’t imagine a turbocharged, front wheel drive machine being as competent, durable, or economical to maintain and repair as a rear wheel drive machine like the competing Dodge Charger. Bonus: The latter is made in Canada.

I have seen lots of police Dodge Chargers on the road but no new Ford or Holden/Chevrolet Caprice police cars. Looks like Chrysler is eating their lunch. Unless it sells a North American civilian version, which so far it is saying it won't, GM could change it's mind about importing the Holden/Chevrolet Caprice and leave police purchasing departments holding the bag.

Ford has made all-wheel drive standard on both vehicles

Ford has made all-wheel drive standard on both vehicles, but still offers front-wheel drive as an option to police forces.

Most Canadian police departments will buy the latter.

Would have liked to see some interior shots of these vehicles. I agree with G.W. above, turbo's and reliability don't go hand and hand.
Regardless I believe tax payers money should be spent on locally built vehicles such as the Chrysler police lineup. I also prefer their engine choices.

The turbo versions are AWD. The FWD versions are normally aspirated.

Taxpayers' money should be spent on the best vehicle for the job, period.

All Police Interceptor sedans have standard AWD. FWD is an option.

So they are ALL AWD.  Except for the ones that are FWD?   Isn't it entirely accurate to say that they are available in either AWD or FWD configurations?

Not sure why some are so hung up on the AWD being "standard".  A hypothetical Car X can come with a manual transmission standard, and automatic optional - you sure wouldn't be shouting about how 'ALL Car Xs have standard manual transmission!' - as if an alternative doesn't exist.

Turbo sedan is AWD only.

The N/A Sedan and Utility are being built as AWD vehicles.  If a police department would rather FWD they can special order them.

I rarely see a Charger Police vehicle outside of Peel region in the GTA, and even rarer in my travels across Canada.  I would comfortably guess it sells the worse out of the big 3.  I am not sure how long the Caprice PPV has been on sale in Canada and if any forces have bought it yet.

I am sure Halton Region will get the Police vehicles from Ford with the Oakville plant and all

The rear roof line of the Charger makes it more difficult to get "passengers" in and out of the back.  Despite the hemi engine, some police forces have crossed the Charger off their list for that exact reason.

Talking with a few police officers, the Hemi engine is the reason other departments have crossed it off their list.  When first released, too many were being involved in 'single vehicle accidents' as some officers pushed things a bit too far

How about one of these in a Police version. Easy ingress and egress for rear passengers. Don't want to injure any criminal head now, do we.

I thought the police fleet chargers came standard with a 3.5L with the HEMI as an option (or special order if you prefer). And when you say depts have crossed the charger off their list, was it gen 1 or gen 2? My understanding re: gen 1 chargers is that the terrible sight lines relative to the Crown Vic and Impala was why most officers didn't want to drive them. Gen 2 supposedly has improved the sight lines.

You are correct, it was Gen 1 I was referring to.  From my understanding, even in police spec the gen 1 charger lacked enough power with the V6.  That is just here say though.
