Wow, do Cayennes ever depreciate.  Ouch.  Much worse than other Porsche models.  Even in over-priced Alberta it's easy to find one for $8K.  If $8-10K was "walk away" money for me, I'd think about taking a chance on one.  I'd see first if the local indie I used to use is still in business - no way I'd take it anywhere near the dealer.

Part of the depreciation is because there's so damn many of them.  Porsche best selling model...by a long shot.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I notice the dealer has a ton of 4yr old ones.

I'd love to have a Turbo Cayenne for a winter vehicle.  But 10 US MPG is horrific!

One of my neighbours is on his second Cayenne Turbo - he actually enjoys that it drinks gas like there's no tomorrow.  What he didn't like was that the dealer gave him about $13K on trade on the new one.  Until he realized that it showed that he could lose $150K on depreciation, so then the low trade became yet another badge of honour.

:o Not sure I could sleep easy at night with that sort of depreciation!

You and me both.  They dropped a million on renos into their house, most of not increasing the value a dime.  POOF!  Spent months bragging about it.

^^Cayennes are shockingly robust too.

Blur...how has yours been?

I know Vmango's folks had one that was extremely reliable.

We've had it for 2-1/2 years, I think about 60k or so.  Apart from a bunch of oil changes we've had to put in a steering rack, front wheel bearings, a battery and a HVAC blower.  I think that's it.

They are decently reliable.  I don't know why the one I posted is so cheap, it seems below market by a bit.
But you never know...

Which year models does CR like?

Out of curiosity, how much is a steering rack re and re for a Cayenne and why would it need to be replaced?

^^A rebuilt steering rack is only ~$450.  Sometimes a seal leaks.....and that's why they need replacing.

So, one rubber seal breaks down and you need t change out the whole rack. Labor amount?

Yep.   because to replace the seal you need to take the rack apart.

It only takes ~3 hours.

**EDIT**  You'll want an alignment usually when you're done too.

The problem I had was nobody had any of those $450 racks in stock, plus there's a core charge.  Basically it came down to: "ship us your rack and we'll rebuild it for you for $450 and ship it back".

Got one from a recycler, Hotch's, that's a whole other clusterf*ck.

Update: Paid off our existing car loan with the 7K and put 1K as downpayment for a 2016 Rav4.  LOL

Thanks! the loaned car was a used one for 6.99% interest and had more than 3 years left so we thought we'd be better of buying it out and get a new one with far less interest.  hehe...
