The Ford C-Max plug in is actually quite interesting to me. Decent horsepower, 180hp plus, and unlike a Prius, it actually looks decent.
For the best electric range /price ratio look no farther than the new Volt. I wish they gave it a 60kWh battery, instead of Bolt. I like the exterior design better.

IIRC, the new Prius Prime has a much better MPGe rating than the Volt.

http://insideevs.com/first-drive-toyota-prius-prime/
120 MPGe "blended" according to the link

Volt: 106 MPGe it seems.

Driving distances should be taken into account to see which is more efficient. I'd also like to see Miles/kWh when operated in pure EV mode, for both cars.

In essence I suppose Volt is a better car when driven mostly on electrons. In mixed mode on unlimited distance Prius Prime will be more efficient.

It's always been that way.  If you drive ONLY in EV mode, the Volt is "better" for economy.  As soon as you get into gas power, the Prius is better.

Not sure what pricing will be on the new Prius yet though.  So cost may play into it.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

http://cleantechnica.com/2016/08/04/tesla-aims-50000-model-x-model-s-deliveries-2h-2016/

The sales numbers and automotive margins are a clear indicator that Tesla is dominating their niche market today, which is a good sign for the market they are targeting with the lower price Model 3.  :o

Quote

18,345 vehicles produced in Q2 2016 set a new quarterly production record for Tesla Motors, an 18% increase over Q1 2016 and a 43% increase over Q2 2015.

$1.7 billion in equity was raised, exiting the quarter with $3.25 billion in cash.

Total vehicle orders (Model X and Model S) grew 67% in Q2 2016 versus Q2 2015.

Model S is #1 in sales in North America and in Europe in the 4-door sedan category and its price class.

Tesla plans “to add a new retail location every four days on average during the remainder of Q3 and through Q4.”

“Total Q2 GAAP revenue was $1.3 billion, while non-GAAP revenue was $1.6 billion for the quarter, up 31% from a year ago. Total Q2 gross margin was 21.6% on a GAAP basis and 20.8% on a non-GAAP basis.”

Tesla expects automotive gross margin to increase 2–3% in Q3 and Q4.

“Model S average prices increased 3% sequentially, due to higher option take rates and the modest price increase associated with the Model S refresh.”

“Model X average prices were more than 15% higher than for Model S

“During Q2, we invested $295 million in capital expenditures to increase production capacity, accelerate Gigafactory construction, and expand customer support infrastructure. Capital expenditures remain on plan to help us reach our goal of producing 500,000 vehicles in 2018.”

Tesla expects capital expenditures of ~$2.25 billion in 2016, largely in support of the hastened Model 3 production plans.

Sales numbers mean NOTHING when you're losing money. You'll recall GM was the worldwide sales leader even as they approached their bankruptcy.

I'll tell you on thing, on our recent vacation trips, the interest in Tesla is non-stop.   Bash all you want now, but on my little street of 20 houses, 3 have solar, 4 have plug-ins, and there are 4 known Model 3 reservations.  One street.   My dentist told my wife a few weeks ago he's going to get a loaded Tesla near the end of the year when his 7 series lease is up.  Two friends at work put in Model 3 reservations.   Having a Tesla in the driveway makes it REAL easy to brush off the critics, enjoy your bashing now.

Things are getting better, my friends were just noting/enjoying that Ontario is off coal, our smog days are gone, and life is good.

I don't think it is easy for you at all.  Your relentless electric vehicle promotion says otherwise.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

I have never bashed the Tesla car , nor said I don't like them.  You on the other hand are a whole different story. Be a tree huger if you want but stop your incessant Tesla rants... we all own cars which we like, but don't  rant and post over the top bias like you do.  :banghead: :stfu:

What does 3 solar mean ?  ???

My neighbours installed solar water heating and solar PV panels to produce electricity on their roofs.
We have solar as well.

You seem to think we dislike and are criticizing the car or the company.

In reality we dislike and are criticizing you.

In response you are using your car to try and salve the pain, which only drives us to troll you more.

Is this sufficiently clear?

The E-Golf will be available in Canada by mid 2017. In a Quebec EV forum, one poster cut and pasted the reply he got from VW Canada. It seems real.

A 36 KW battery, good for about 200 km.
