"strong tonal firing order and harmonic components progressing through crisp high frequency resonance features..."

I've been saying for years, that is how I want my car to sound!   ;)

Best sounding cars on the recent market:

Boss 302
500 Abarth
Jetta GLI (no, really)
Any V8 AMG
RS7 wasn't half bad

And that Jag through the China Bar tunnel at 6 a.m. on a Sunday was pretty dang epic.

V8 F-Type sounds better than all of them, especially when you get off the throttle at high RPM and listen to the machine-gun fire out the back. I've seen people on the sidewalk leap into the air in fright. I've seen people drop their bags, if I was in the USA, I'd be afraid to drive it because they'd probably call 911/terrorism hotline/Jack Bauer (and/or shoot me).

I agree with Brendan. You need remedial acoustics 101 training.  :stick: ;D

To me, the Jag sounds like a Mustang with fart cans.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

I love the sound of a high performance V-8.  But, I find the noise the Jag makes "contrived" for the lack of a better word.  It's too much.  The AMG V-8s sound more "natural" and instead of being created for effect, the sounds seem required for all the horsepower that's being made.

The BOSS302 is the same for me.  Suits the race-car look, the performance, and the character of the car.

I need to go on a sound comparison test and hear them all at once...

The 911 Carrera S with the sport exhaust sounds pretty yummy...the nice Porsche lady got me to flash up the car in the showroom and give it a go.

Damn...after reading that, now I have to go out and buy an XE.  And here I was thinking that only the Lexus LFA was the one that carefully worked out sound tuning (though that's a helluva sound).

either way,

I think you need to get your facts straight...nobody here likes Jacob.   Certainly, nobody has a man-crush on him ::) ::) ::)

Check the math on the fuel mileage. It looks like 8.5 liters per 100kms.

I think the way to car revs up to ~4,000 RPM on startup is stupid, childish and unbecoming of a luxury marque.  VERY, very tacky....
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

That's the operator. Not the car.

Uh no it's not.  They rev higher than ANY car I've ever heard at start up.  Definitely not operator....and probably not 4,000RPM...but it sure isn't low RPM!  Like a blip right at the start.

FWIW, I've heard others (magazines, blogs) mention the same thing...so I'm not the only one!

Ah okay, I thought you meant a specific example of it revving right up to four.
I've started them many, many times now and never had them rev past 2 on start up. It barks into life then immediately idles at a reasonable speed.

I have no idea what RPM it is....definitely a hearty blip.....which, as I stated is VERY tacky.

Meh, the F-Type isn't for people who want something understated. I reckon that for the car's mission it's perfectly appropriate.

It's certainly the most reviewed car of 2014. This is ... What our 4th or 5th?

I see journalists with it 2 or 3 times posting on Facebook.  LOL
