To be fair, a rear facing seat doesn't fit comfortably in most cars.

That is not really true. The G8 had oodles of room for my reversed seat and the Ridgeline and LR3 both managed just fine with my 6'2" frame at the wheel.

OK and he did say cars. So we can discount minivans, trucks, every SUV and CUV. Does anyone make a "car" anymore?  ;D

I disagree.  I agree they don't fit well in most compacts.  They fit fine in my previous 08 Mazda6, and 2015 Mazda6, both of which are on the smaller size in terms of rear seat room, compared to the midsize class.  This is with the front seat being in the middle position, not pushed all the way back, but still plenty of room up front.  Now, if your over 6' that is something different.  Need a different class of vehicle then.

Just so I understand...this car is officially a hot hatch now right?

Good point and was mine. The V60 is cool but it is an XL hatch, not a wagon. I guess even Autos thinks it's a hatch.

I'd pay $10,000 for Brendan's Swedish jokes alone.

This is a very cool option if you don't mind not having a manual tranny.  This also just highlights two things about the 5 door market. Firstly, wagons are sold at a huge premium over comparible SUVs.  I suppose this is a function of sales numbers.  Secondly, hot wagons have been murdered by Americans.  Merc ditched the c class wagon, Audi ditched the hot A4/s4 wagon, Bmw ditched the 335 wagon, Subaru ditched the STI wagon, Ford and vw never made a hot version of their wagons.  Until now..... Does anybody actually think the VW GOLF R wagon will ever come to NA?

Regardless, it appears hot wagon and manual transmission are dead in NA.

Since the golf R hatch is coming, the engine and manual transmission of the hatch would probably just drop into the wagon wouldn't it?

Well to be fair, you can't ditch something that never existed in the first place (335i wagon).

Mid 2000s VW offered a W8 6 speed 4motion wagon. A Unicorn for sure.

Depends on what they do to the rear suspension on the wagon...the front end would fit for sure  but it might need some work at the back.

Ah yes it was a 328i 6 cylinder wagon, not a 335.  You are correct sir!  But it did have a manual tranny. To add to the list of wagon deaths, how about the mazda 6 wagon with manual???

A very sad death.  Even worse is the lack of wagon available on the current gen (old issue).  Very hard to find a wagon manual, 2-3 within 500km, both over 200k.  Thought this sport hatch is an awesome value,

Around the same mileage when I sold my 2008 Mazda6 Sport GS.  This is beautiful GT with two-tone colors, and leather.  If I still work in Burlington in a few years, I would probably by an older Mazda6, and return the lease.  Who knows, still 3.5 years away...

Seeing that 6 makes me miss the first 6 I owned (black/beige GT wagon).

Yeah.  I never tried the manual.  Especially with the Ford V6.  When buying the first Mazda, it was mostly for my wife.  I narrowed it to 3 cars.  And we like the sport hatch, that still looked like a sedan, unique... Love that colour.  And the bright red one as well..

Wrt the polestar, do people just plop their cash down without a test drive?  I can't imagine doing that ever.  Esp given the price.

Yeah but they only have to find 12 of those people across the entire country.

Think of it this way. There's at least 12 murderers in the country. And buying a V60 Polestar without a test drive is a lot less extreme than being a murderer. :)
