Certain regions in Canada restrict studs, but studs that hide during better weather could change the law

Count me in! What a great idea and intelligent use of technology. Main questions would be 1. does the flat housing for the studs compromise vehicle ride/handling? 2. is the housing deep enough in the tire so that there is no metal to road contact for the normal life of the tire? Any option that increases safety, allows the driver to have MORE control, and gets those awful studded tires off our roads is fine by me.

This is very cool.  It looks like it is electronically actuated some how.  Does that mean you need to install some extra equipment in your vehicle in order to run these tires?

I do not think you would see this in southern Ontario , the roads are bad enough already , studded tires would chew them up
