Because in person I actually really like it, but I loathed it in photos.

Exactly me.  The Trailhawk especially.

:iagree:  The dealership I get the Wrangler serviced at had one....very nice.

I like how they packaged the options into so many categories reducing the chances of being stuck having a bunch of "don't wants" for the one "want".

I'm really liking the Trailhawk.
i find Chrysler is actually one of the best in terms of options, both in availability and pricing...there are a lot of things you can get "a la carte", and most things are reasonably priced.

Including illuminated cup holders!!!  Why nobody else does it, I don't understand.
FWIW, see all Fords, including the Fiesta...numerous colour choices, too!

oh ya, I think I've seen an add for that (colour choices) but I thought it was just part of the ambient lighting.
(not cupholders)?    Good on them for having them though!

Ford lets you choose between multiple colors. All cupholders, door handles are illuminated and there's a neat light that provides a very subtle amount of light to the console - a la BMW.

Yeah, my one regret with the SE purchase rather than the Titanium trim - Well, that and the Sony audio system.

Ah, so you have to get the Titanium trim to get that?

Nope...the SE with 201A adds the ambient lighting - it costs about 2k in the Focus and also includes some other amenities, such as 17in wheels, alarm, fog lamps, leather steering wheel/shifter, etc...

Thanks for the pics, I found the "secret trail" on Google Maps, now I can do some off roading closer to home, WOOHOO!!!!!  It is within the GTA but nowhere near Cherry beach, no more hints from me.

I put some AT tires on my 09 Liberty this year, should be good fun.  I wish they had just dropped the 3.6 liter Pentastar into the Jeep KK chassis instead of making this goofy moon buggy looking Cherokee thing.  I would have bought a new Liberty if they had done that, I don't think a Wrangler Unlimited will fit through a standard size single garage door, so that's not an option for me.  My Liberty has just a few inches to spare.

Not many people will off road a 44K plus butched up soft roader anyway, only the journos who didn't pay for it, but I can't blame them for that.

Cheers.

Couple things....

1) check out a mid-2000s Silverado headlight cluster.  When equipped with fog lamps, there's 10(!) separate bulbs on the front of that thing. Granted 2 are turn signals, but given that there's 1000s of those on the that have been on the road for over a decade, I'm fairly certain the Cherokee won't run into much problem with the regulators/authorities.

2) $45,000 as equipped?  Really?  I will concede that there's probably nothing to match its off road capability at that price point, but $45k is the entry price for an X3 or GLK diesel.... Hmmmm

entry point being the key here...add all the toys to those and they will be $65k, and while having a badge they will, they still won't hold a candle to the Jeep off road.

Not quite...a fully loaded X3 will cost about $52k with the 2.0T

yup... the forum has had that argument time and time again.   Your entry point doesn't even get you 1/4 of the features the loaded Cherokee has.   Apples to Oranges.

Ha! Not even close. $52k buys you a base X3 with no metallic paint and just the Premium Package Enhanced. A loaded 28i is near $70k.

You forgot the "base price at $31,595" part. Plus autos.ca includes freight and ac tax as part of the as "price as tested".

In terms of off-road capability, both the Wrangler and X-Terra would be more capable and a better off-road value, if not out right cheaper.

Toyota FJ too!

I think that part of all this is the body-on-frame 4WD vs unibody AWD comparisons.....many hard core off roaders are concerned about the next generation Wrangler losing that body style.

I'm not sure of the Wrangler would be 'that much less capable' if it were moved to a unibody, but people don't take the Cherokee or Renegade as seriously, in part due to that perception (?).
