I usually buy pretty inexpensive stuff so Kijiji. Last one I bought was out a field after spotting it driving by though.

I still prefer Autotrader over Kijiji, although Kijiji's search function has been much improved over the last little while.  Bringatrailer is nice for browsing  :).
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

There's nothing Canadian about that site. I've given up looking on US sites for buying used vehicles and stuff because of the dollar exchange.

Kijiji

Most of AutoTrader ads are for dealers. Well, those that aren't scammers.

Maybe so...
Rocket was telling me that the rules have changed for Canadians purchasing US used cars from individuals. Something about US residents now need to have an IRS account to electronically send documents for export purposes. Thus, most just say screw it and sell elsewheres.
Have you heard of this?

Daydreaming: barnfinds, bringatrailer - these two have created an addiction that may require treatment.

Otherwise, I like autotrader's layout and search engine. Mostly dealers though. Kijiji works, but search engine is very poor. lespac.com is a popular QC classifieds site, but it too was mostly taken over by dealers.

It's a fact.  It wasn't meant to target private car sellers.  It was instituted primarily to monitor revenue from the sale of farm machinery/vehicles, industrial machinery/vehicles, etc.   Anything with a serial number and a motor.

I know it was before the new rules, but I simply picked up my car in the US and drove it over the border.  I didn't stop at the US customs, I paid my tax in Canada and they were happy.  That's it that's all.  Race cars aren't registered.

I didn't "export' anything, I only imported it.

Wait a second.  So I imported the radical, then I sold it to a guy in the US.  Who then in return sold it to a guy in the GTA just a few months ago who imported it.

He had no weird issues, just bought it and brought it over like I did.  So nothing changed there.

Further, that there is some IRS issued number now for electronic filing of transaction details or at least to get into the IRS database. I may have this number already as a Canadian that owes US property and needs to advise the IRS of rental income. To prevent 30% withholding tax.

http://www.hemmings.com/

for fun stuff...

but with work, trader.ca for higher value, kijiji for less likely to retail values/pieces... wheels and such are non-starters. we used to just be on there, but it was close to useless... we got more people checking our website than going to our pages on there.

Most likely.
