Poor mans Porsche a.k.a the 914...that's funny at this price. I agree I'd like to be that poor.

This is the closest looking Boxster to the 911 cabrio that I've seen. Not a fan of convertibles but this one might just bring me over the edge !!

It all seems so simple, so refined that one has to ask why can't others build this car ? Is it a German thing is it a Porsche thing ? either way it's supreme !!

$90,000 is a lot of money for a boxster...I do like that it works well as a daily driver.

Fresh-Breeze from Toyoburu.

Sure, not quite at the same level, but it is 1/4 the price.

Never been a big fan of the Boxster....if I was going to get anything from Stuttgart, it would be a 911, especially now since the bloody little thing is almost $100K. Like NoTo said though, the Toybaru/Subiyota is a hell of a deal a 1/4 of the cost.
Lighten up Francis.....

The Toyobaru is a great deal, true, but it's a bit disappointing to drive (many will disagree with me on this, but the MX-5 is better feeling if a bit sloppy, and no more than a tenth or so slower). The Boxster, on the other hand, feels worthy of the hype, if perhaps not the price-tag.

Incidentally, the last base 911 Cabrio (manual) I drove stickered out in the $150K range, with the same options as the S. I like the 991 (not love, but like), but the Boxster feels more of a sports-car.

Of course, for that kind of money I'd have a Flyin' Miata 'charged MX-5, spend ~$10K at Skip Barber learning how to drive the darn thing and have enough left over to pay down a sizable chunk of my mortgage.

why is it the boxster S in canada is 10k more than the states to start?    ohhhhhhh i just opened a can of worms and whoop right there!!

I agree with you in hating that policy, but...devil's advocate:

1) sales volumes
2) because the rest of the world doesn't feel like Canada is an extension of the US like Canadians do
3) because they can...(*sigh*)

as i said,  take a short drive to the states and flip the bird to porsche canada.   8)

In all fairness to Porsche Canada, a few years ago they threatened to stop buying P's from P head office Germany based on the pricing discrepancy that they were paying versus the U.S. importer and were going to simply buy the vehicles from the grey market most likely the U.S.. Since head office has done some price adjustment, but like I've argued many times it's up to us to put an end to "country pricing" !!

2 words "YES PLEASE"!!!  I've driven my friend's '01 Boxster a few times, and loved it.  It just felt so right.  I'd love to try a new one... :skid:

Just for fun, I optioned out a Boxster S the way I woud want one. $75k before taxes. Still a lot of coin, but better than $90,000. Just stay away from stuff like the PDK and ceramic brakes.

The regular Boxster is almost $15,000 less, if you can settle for a "mere" 265 horsepower. ;)

For $75K.....I'd start looking at the new Corvette.  But that's me.

Im with ya on that, Id rather have a 400+ horse Vette without potential IMS failure and a whole wealth of affordable upgrades.

It would be a tough choice.  The Corvette brings so much performance to the table.

Agree. Corvette has so much going for it. And it also has "substance" for lack of a better word. For that kind of money, the Boxster looks like an overpriced toy - a good toy no doubt - but still just a toy. Like a lean olympic swimmer vs a pro football player. Both are great for what they can do, but $90k gets me scratching my head.

i would think people looking at a boxster are not cross shopping a corvette.  they are completely different cars and clientele.  i've sat in the new boxster.  there is an incredible attention to detail outside and inside that the corvette simply can't match.   people looking at this car want this type of meticulous craftsmanship.

But you cant deny the bargain of the Vette, way more power, way better handling and on a track the Vette would make the Boxster look like a family sedan. Ive sat in Porsches, the interiors are allright, but I wouldnt put them up in the same level as an Audi, of course the vette interior sucks, but the Boxster isnt a world standard by any means.
