Good review.

Sounds like you found the transmission to be slightly wonky. I found it to be very wonky. I require my transmissions to be wonk-free, particularly at this price point.

Absolutely love the interior colour if your test car.

Did they drop the price on these? I could swear the dealer showed me ones that stickered over 50k - but you say this is as high as it goes?

Oh, and I read somewhere that the Genesis might be a competitor - can't recall where just now. :-)

wont go wrong, and pleasant interior, but exterior really doesnt do anything for me - Acuras have always had that problem IMO

would readily take a FGC over this [Merc comes to mind], or especially the upcoming Giulia [antithesis to this car really]
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

It's about time that Acura killed that beak and take it in a new direction - even the Honda Accord looks better. I've not seen what they've changed it to for 2017. Although Honda has done wonderful things in tuning engines, it's certainly falling behind in the horsepower department comparative to other vehicles in the segment. Personally, I think Acura did get one thing right - the size - more spacious than the RL yet not too big for maneuvering. Interior is a nice place to be.

I was playing around with their build and price - didn't load particularly well on my antique office computer but it seemed like a lot of stuff that should be standard on a premium luxury vehicle, isn't.  Got to buy a premium package to get a backup camera?  Srsly?  I was at $52k in no time at all.

The beak has grown on me worn me down over time - I doesn't bug the crap out of me like it used to.  Even when I see the first rendition that looked like a giant bottle opener rolling down the highway I think "that car has real presence".  Maybe it's just that Lexus has claimed the most ridiculous grille crown for some years now.

Yep.  That's typical of the FGCs.  In the C-Class' case, with the introduction of the CLA, MB moved the C-Class more upmarket and the price reflects that.

REALLY?!! At first glance I thought it was a Mazda... until I saw the headlights and badge. I'll sit back for a while and try to digest this - after a constitutional. At this point I'm not so sure this is an improvement.

2016 apparently had a transmission rework.  I've looked into these because locally Acura can't give them away and they are great deals.  One dealer had 60 on the lot.  A couple people on local forums leased them for under $400 all in (tax included, SH AWD V6).  That was with a $6,500 rebate and low lease rates.  People seem to be much more interested in the RDX/MDX than TLX when they go into Acura stores apparently.

I really liked the TSX and TL generation before the beak and high rear haunches.  They were slab sided, but very classy looking.  This styling just looks weird to me, but better than the last gen TL that introduced the big beak.  I much prefer the Q50 styling.

I really like the TLX interior design and coffee color seats and trim, but to me it clashes with the grey dash, etc.  Black would look better with the brown.  And mixing wood trim with aluminum doesn't work for me.  Not deal breakers, though.  What is, though, is the exterior design.

Isn't that true for the enitre industry though? More are more people are opting for crossovers than sedans.

Absolutely, but TLX seems to be affected more locally it seems, along with Cadillac ATS.  Those two cars can be leased for around what a loaded Civic goes for.

I'm in the camp of preferring my Gen TL (with the 2012 update) over the current TLX. This goes for the interior too.

Your gen is the TL sweet spot for sure.

Judging by the review, more transmission work is needed.  But you are right - with those kind of rebates it's pretty hard to argue against the value proposition.  I'd certainly rather pilot a TLX than an Accord - no question.  With 60 cars on the lot the buyer is in a pretty damned powerful position.  :o

If I could get a loaded TLX for $400/month on lease all-in, my Corolla's future would be in some serious jeopardy.
