3M Crystalline Window tinting
« on: July 22, 2016, 10:52:45 am »
I'm looking to see if anyone has had the 3M Crystalline window tinting installed? I'm looking at it as it doesn't seem to be a dark tint and it does a lot of heat rejection.

http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Window_Film/Solutions/Markets-Products/Automotive/Crystalline-Automotive-Films/

Has anyone used this or something comparable and knows a good installer in the GTA?

Thanks in advance!

I'd be interested to find a good 3M crystalline installer too. I gave it a shot a couple of years ago. The guy near Lada building in N. York was apparently a 3M distributor but said he had "issues" with that film and instead tried to push something he probably bought for less. I figured he used 3M name only to attract a customer  :-\
Anywho, if anyone knows a good installer for Crystalline film, please let ppl know.

These guys seem legit.  Dixie and Eglinton.  http://www.srstints.ca/window-tinting/

But HOLY crazy prices for that stuff!  :o   $950 for an SUV?  It cost me around $300 for my Santa Fe...

I used these guys in Oakville, and they did an excellent job.  Website doesn't say anything about 3M though.  http://www.superiorwindowfilms.com/auto-window-tinting.aspx

don`t most cars now come with a rear window tint on purchase and have for several years and Heavy tints are for gangbangers on front windows that are actionable by the cops....A cheap pair of DARK SUNGLASSES
and no one will recognize you  :shuffle: .....
Time is to stop everything happening at once

i'll check with my suppliers... i have 4 people who do 3m for me, i'm sure at least one uses this film.

nearly all cars come with solar protected glass, even if it's not tinted... so i don't usually worry about it too much, but it really does get it damn hot...

for me though, tinting is about the look first, and the temperature/uv blocking second.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

I'd like me some Crystalline primarily for its infrared reflection and would've been a lot happier in this heat now...

Same thing for me - I'm looking for the IR reduction to keep it cooler. I'm not into dark tints as it causes visibility issues at night. I'm also looking at Prestige Film Technologies Photosync but it's a fair bit more expensive I believe. Part of the problem will also be whether it works with polarized sunglasses (mine are prescription, and I don't want to switch them yet).

I wish I had looked into this more before tinting the Genesis - I didn't want a dark tint due to night vision concerns, but would like better heat reflection would be welcome.

What about FormulaOne UVshield™ series?  Doesn't look like traditional tint.

Here's what I posted about 3M Crystalline back in 2008...(I've been talking about this stuff for years now)

You need to look into 3M Crystalline.  So clear you can put it on the whole windshield.  Amazing stuff.  Uses nano-technology.  This film rejects 99.9 percent of UV rays (with a total SPF rating that exceeds 1,700), 97 percent of infrared radiation, blocks heat, and is nearly completely invisible to the naked eye.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I've always had my "newer" daily driver's tinted  pretty dark. The Ziebart near me does great work and offer a lifetime warranty on fading, discoloration or peeling - any of which I've never had an issue with. I had the Sonoma and Firebird (96) done about 10 years ago with 20% all the way around and I've never had any regret. Significantly cooler in the summer, and the extra privacy/security of people not driving around in a fish bowl. Never been hassled by the cops for it either.

The Escalade came with gangbanger (10%?) tint all the way around when I got it and I've left it alone...It's a little dark which makes it tricky to see details at night, things like house numbers, but I'll probably just leave it alone.
