It may not have much more power than a Camcord but heck there is something special about a 300 over a vanilla sedan. A sense of occasion. I might even buy one myself one day if I could stomach the fuel bill.

Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

That car is a beauty and a beast. I can't imagine what 707hp feels like. Amazing. Now, Devil's Advocate: what are peoples' takes on buying a used ultra-high-performance car like this Hellcat; one that could very well have been "run hard and put away wet"? Does that potentiality affect resale more than other kinds of expensive cars? Just curious.

My guess? Probably fine for a second owner. The potential of abuse would probably increase with each subsequent owner.

That car is just so insane.  Awesome.

insane is a good way to describe it...too much power + not enough traction = not very impressive real world numbers! now the AWD version might totally change that

Oh it makes no sense at all. But if there's a vehicle that underscores that we are currently living in the golden age for the auto enthusiast, this is it. More power than you can possibly put down just underscores the over the top nature of the vehicle. It's not my particular thing - not by a long shot - but there is one in my neighbourhood and every time I see it I smile.

Well yeah, with 5.7 liters you can't help but make a boatload of torque. I just think 363 hp is a lazy effort from that same displacement. But then I suppose that's kind of old school as well.

Sincere question: have you driven a 5.7 hemi? I haven't, but it seems to me the specs on paper only tell a small part of the story. An N/A V8 that makes more torque than HP, and pretty low in the power band, suggests a classically - and certainly old school, as you say - undersquare powertrain, but one with seriously smooth, robust and linear delivery. It may not be as sophisticated as Germany's latest DI and twin-turbo'd 6-cylinders, but i bet you it's still a very sweet motor.

Serious question - did you read my comment where I said nobody ever accused  a hemi-powered Chrysler of being slow? Serious question number two: do you understand the concept of efficiency as it relates to specific output?

Cool snark, bro  ;) If my own question came across as snarky, that really wasn't the intention, so my apologies. I did read your comment, and I believe I do understand the concept of output/efficiency.

I probably could have expressed myself more clearly, but if you re-read my post, i think you'll see the bigger point I was trying to make was precisely *not* about specific output, and more about the the intangible qualities of the Hemi motor - i.e. how the power is delivered, as opposed to *how much* of it is delivered. Cheers.

Premium for the Hellcat sure is steep.  MSRP is $10k more than the Mustang GT350.  The Challenger 392 might be the "sensible" option.

Oh, but stop the presses.  Doesn't this seem like a good value?

This is a good point.

The Hellcat is a bit of a unique beast, but I can't see choosing one over the GT350 (or C7)....

I have to say that I would love to have a Hellcat Charger as a daily driver, why, because madness. The Charger/Challenger were never meant to be sports cars, when you weigh as much as a 1/2 ton truck, kind of hard to boogie around Laguna Seca double time, but as a comfortable, good looking, amazing sounding commuter car that can erupt like a thermonuclear device, yes please and thank you!!!
