I never imagined myself owning a big 'ol American V-8 car, until I met a guy that had built an amazing GenII Firebird that wasn't just ridiculously quick, but a winding-road demon as well.  Whaaa?  A solid axle behemoth could handle?  I was so shocked I had to have one of my own.

Thinking back to driving that car still makes me grin.

Loved the look of thos T/As. Grew up watching KIIT & Knight Rider. Did dream of owning a black one as a teen.

Sweet, I've been a TA fan since my at-the-time girlfriend's brother let me use his '80 TA to go to the prom! Blue, with the light blue/white screamin' chicken.

Great find, I saw an '02 yellow collectors edition rumbling around town last week...one day I tells ya...
2019 Mazda 3 GS-L, 2013 Ram 1500 and an EV that cost 5 times what my Mazda3 costs but is louder with a crappier interior.

Looks to be in great shape! Had some of the best memories in this little car. So much fun to drive!

This isn't mine but looks identical.

Missed this thread until now. Car looks every bit as sweet in person as it does in pictures. Congrats again dude, this is a big milestone for me too... it means I don't need to help you picking up/returning press cars anymore.  ;D

Quick update here. Spent the last few weekends of barely above 0 weather working on this:
- Rebuilt the rear calipers & replaced the flex lines
- Fixed the e-brake cable
- Replaced all the belts
- Replaced just about every bulb in the car
- Fixed wiring for the front lighting system
- Fixed the center console
- Replaced the passenger side power window motor
- Fix the broken front air dam
- Replaced the hood struts
- Replaced the rear sway bar links
- Properly attached the new (by P.O) window weather stripping

With those repairs the car was in pretty good working order, so I it brought to a friend's shop for a proper inspection. They replaced the front sway bar bushings and the brake master cylinder. I suspected the master cylinder was bad since I was having trouble getting a firm pedal even after bleeding the crap out of the system. But I hate messing around with brakes, so I am happy to have that resolved by someone elses efforts.
I'll get plates and pickup the car Thursday evening and since I've done absolutely nothing in the way cleaning or dealing with the cosmetics, I'll probably spend most of the weekend doing what I can to get it looking presentable. If all goes well I'll have it in service for Monday morning's commute.

Still tons of little fixes and repairs to do, but almost all of them are cosmetic at this point. The biggest being swapping out the seats for the new ones I bought and re-doing the headliner.

You need a barn to keep all these cars !

Looking great, and I'm enjoying your projects.

Thanks man :)
I wish I had a barn, or even a larger garage. I work right in the city of Toronto, so for now I need to be able to commute. I dream of a day when I can move out to the boonies and finally buid a facility to support the habit.
Currently both the Firebird's live outside, and that sucks. I've been able to get indoor storage for the rest (3 in my garage, 3 at my grandmother's place).

Just drove this home from the shop after getting a safety done. Slapped on a set of new plates and hit the highway, in a downpour and in the dark. I tend to have a lot of faith in these old cars, but even I impressed at how well this thing drives! Still can't wipe the smile off my face. Steering and suspension feel great, no noises, car cruises great at speed and everything is working as it should. With the new M/C the brakes feel great too.
There's something about a 30 year old car that still works properly and serves a purpose, I love it!

I drove this vehicle today. It's fantastic for what it is. Smells about right for a 30 year old American car, too.

My girlfriend, who doesn't condone any "old" cars, also rode in it, and thinks it's hilarious.  8) 8)
