it's hard to see which gear you have selected...I've used that shifter in rental 300s a few times and was always careful to double check if I was actually in 'P'

If cars had a proper handbrake than this wouldn't really be an issue as I used the brake in the Montero whenever I park out of habit. I've never used these, they don't look all that confusing.
Lighten up Francis.....

That seems fairly straightforward. How do you get the key out if its not in park??

mmmm....most of these will have keyless entry, so you can leave your car in N or D by 'accident' and just walk away.

Oh yeah...sorry, forgot about the keyless thing. I'm still trying to get over cars needing just one key to open doors and starting.....I'll be over here yelling at my cloud.

nope...in the Prius you have a 'P' button that's clearly marked.

i will say it is an annoying shifter... but why people can't just learn how to use something, rather than just complain i don't get...

i've had people with every type of shifter (and every type of key) leave the car in gear or running all night... people can be dumb... but rather than giving yourself a smack and realizing you screwed up, they complain or sue... it could never just be their fault!

Looking at the video again....you are right...I honestly can't see why this is such a big issue. This wouldn't be a huge stumbling point for anyone of even average intelligence. If you are licenced to drive but do not have the intelligence to put said car in park....maybe you aren't intelligent enough to drive.

Or hit the brakes, or shut off the car.....yeah, those same morons. Like I was saying, if you do not have even a modest amount of intelligence, even the smallest issue could be exacerbated into a much more serious situation.

How do you shut it off while it's driving down the highway?

Because the morons driving the Toyota cars with push button start were clueless how to shut the car off when they allegedly were "runaway" cars.

I don't want to shut a car off, you don't want to shut a car off, but the people making up lies about runaway cars allegedly tried to shut the cars off and it didn't work.   ::)

It won't let you shut it off at speed.   Neutral is a good plan though
