It seems to be a hit over on advrider.com, two years of sales and no major complaints. I wonder how come I've never heard of it before, but I think it's better I've just heard of it now that they've got approval to sell this bike in Canada.

If they could manage to sell this for $4,000 in Canada, that'd be pretty awesome. I wonder if the ship direct to customer model could work here?

Just spoke to the president of the company.  It's direct-to-customer.  Prices are in USD unless I misunderstood.  Here's the breakdown he gave me:

Bike $3495.00

Doc fee $35.00

Assembly $195.00 (optional..which is cool!)

Custom clearance from broker $100.00

Shipping from Calif about $500 (depends where in Canada you're located)

Hm. That's about CA$5732 before taxes with today's dollar.. The value proposition is gone unless the Canadian dollar gets back down to par.

Exactly.

Although the cheapest adventure type bike you can buy is the KLR650 at $7K.  Plus the added insurance premium.

Very cool bike, it certainly does look promising. But as mentioned, with the CDN in decline against the U.S., this bike loses its value.

At, say, ~6,000 to your door, a used KLR/DR 650/Xr650L starts to make more sense. Especially as an adventure touring rig. Low mile garage queens are everywhere and these bikes are pretty well bulletproof.

I had a DR650 and it didn't feel all that much more powerful than my Kawasaki Super Sherpa. Certainly no more intimidating.

The biggest problem with no-name Chinese bikes aside from build quality (welds, low quality hardware, metallurgy), is support and service.  When, not if, the company/distributor folds, where do you get parts and service?

So many fly by night operations and used car dealers decide to sell these low cost Chinese bikes, CCW's, Sym, etc and the like, and in a year they either close down or stop selling them, and you're on your own.

For $6000, I wouldn't think twice about buying a used KLR, DR, heck for $6000 you can get a used WR250 or even a brand new XT250... the choices are endless, really, and you'll get a much better bike.

Yea. It's a better deal in the US than it is here. Too bad.

Sym is technically out of Taiwan, but they certainly aren't a fly by night company...Sym is actually a pretty big company and is/was partnered with many even bigger ones (BRP, Honda, Hyundai, etc).
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

i see what you mean, the dealer network...from what i've seen, that is moreso the case with e-bikes, which are a loophole that should be closed, than with Sym and Kymco products (of course, they certainly aren't as readily available as Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki products.

Daytona Motorsports in Vancouver which sells Yamaha and Zero powersports and sold SYM motorcycles was burned by the fact that they could not get a lot of parts from SYM Canada required to service the bikes they sold. They are an excellent dealer, not some fly by night operation.

CSC is a little better. But I think their RX-3 bike is $6k+ by now with the ever declining Canadian dollar.

Look hard and long and you can find a 2012'ish KLR 650 for approximately $4,000.  Likely one of, if not the most bullet-proof adv motorcycles ever made.  I'd sooner take the used KLR for it's reputation, wide-spread dealer network, and essentially ubiquitous parts availability.    Not to mention, they're almost fool-proof to work on yourself.

I can appreciate a new entry to the market though, can only make the overall option choices better for everyone I suppose.

CSC New TT250 dual sport $1895 USD pre-order offer
« Reply #14 on: February 16, 2016, 08:50:10 am »
CSC is introducing their new TT250 dual sport bike with a carbureted 230cc motor producing 16 HP paired with a five speed transmission for a limited time preorder price of $1895 (regular price will be $2495)

http://www.cscmotorcycles.com/CSC-TT-250-s/275.htm

The only fees on top are shipping and $35 documentation. The $195 setup few is waived. Assuming shipping is $500 with $100 brokerage, that's about $3519 CAD plus tax. If you compare that to a Yamaha TW200 or Suzuki DR200SE, both about $5000 plus freight, PDI, and tax on top and both with 30 less cc and a few less HP, this is a pretty wicked deal.
