Wow!...That's one heck of a deal! :o  When I was shopping last Spring the "Ultra Premium 1" pkg equipped version was around 60K!

http://www.autos.ca/lexus/buyers-guide-2011-lexus-rx/3

Something dosn't sound right here. Both the autos.ca buying guide for the 2012 and the Lexus Canada site are showing this package as adding $14,500 not $700 and the price coming in at 59-something  plus freight. Are you sure you're reading that spec sheet right James?

ULTRA PREMIUM PACKAGE 1 $14,500.00, not $700...

Yeah I kind of figured that the $700 number must be wrong.  I might have believed $7000, but over $14,000 does not make this a "deal".

Yeah, per the Lexus.ca website, $14 500 for the Ultra Premium Package 1.  That $700 price is so unbelievable, you'd think that the writer would have double checked before posting the article.

It happens all the time. Check out the prius vs tdi comparison comment in the 2012 Volt thread... ;)

That option package is a THIRD of the base price!  :o

That's true for lots of cars. An increase of 30-40% from the base to a loaded model isn't all that uncommon.
Maybe it's just that the numbers are bigger in this case?  ;D

Okay okay, Looks like Lexus sent me totally incorrect information.  Egg on me for not double checking (I was also skeptical of this package).  But this was official paperwork from Lexus!

Perhaps $700 is Lexus COST -- Haggling room!

Getting back to the car itself...I rather like this CUV and in fact came close to buying one. What stopped me was that I couldn't get comfortable in the seat (cushion base too short and no thigh support). The extendable thigh support in the Ultra Premium 1 pkg would have solved this but, as we've established, it runs considerably more than $700  ;D

Okay - James, let's see a mulligan Day 1 review without the notion that your tester offers staggering value in a comprehensive option package.

When I read the headline, my first thought was 'Wow, Lexus must have drastically slashed the price on these things.' - because my perception had always been that it was pretty high priced for what you actually got.  Straight-up, I prefer the Venza.

It's a bug I can't get rid of, not sure why.  I put in a triple check to ensure it doesn't happen and still does occasionally.  Only reason I can think of is that our database is slow when the first 2 people click.

Done -- and I've e-mailed Lexus telling them to sell it to me at $700

As equipped this thing is on hell of a deal at 45K. ;D

my first thought was "Wow! Lexus is serious about getting back market share" Then I remembered that old adage...If it sounds to good to be true it probably is
