Not sure if the car is driving slowly or whether the video is in slow-mo.

I thought Mazda was all about zoom-zoom!

I think the Pilot is going to outdo this in both usability, performance, and efficiency.

The new one is quite excellent.

Do you have interior specs on the CX-9?  To compare against the Pilots usability?  Like many other Mazdas, their first priority isn't performance.  It's styling inside and out, handling, and fuel efficiency.

At this point, I still prefer the Highlander to the Pilot.

It's not as if the previous one was a looker. I don't find the new one ugly, just bland. I liked that the previous Pilot actually looked like an SUV.

Yes it was.  But notice I said nothing about looks.  The Pilot is bigger, will get better real world fuel mileage, and performs better ( a 6.1 second 0-60 is insane for this type of vehicle).

The previous CX9 was pretty as well.  A POS in the reliability area, but pretty.

Don't know many people who have one.  A client has one, nothing but regular maintenance, and two recalls, just over 150k in the summer.

True Delta shows them above average for reliability, don't know about Consumer Reports.  The transmission is reliable, so is that 3.7L V6 from Ford, thirsty but reliable.

I would agree if we were talking about the CX-7, known to have a few issues, especially the turbo.

production has started at the Mazda plant in Hiroshima, Japan on this new model with it coming off the line starting yesterday.  They expect to produce about 50k with 40k slated for North America.

Any idea, of we can sit in one at the Toronto Autoshow?

no idea, phone Mazda Canada and ask them if they have one on display, or contact the shows website.

I get constant emails from Mazda, I know it's going to be there.  Just not sure if we can sit in it.  Guess I could contact Mazda, but that's work.

http://www.motoringtv.com/mazda-cx-9s-fuel-economy-rating-jumps-35-for-2016/

if it doesn't go on sale till June, makes you wonder why they are classifying it as a 2016 model???

someone needs to edit the article as with regards the figures they quoted for the old version - 10.0 city and 14.2 highway!!!!

^ stupid article put the previous gen fuel economy numbers backwards, 14L/100km highway!

"Mazda says the redesigned 2016 CX-9 received a Natural Resources Canada fuel economy rating of 10.5 L/100 km city and 8.3 L/100 km highway, a 35 per cent improvement compared to the outgoing version of its largest crossover."

Pretty impressive numbers, from the same source the competition gets city ratings in the 12's (non AWD versions)

While the highway numbers are about what I would expect on an SUV of this size, it's the city numbers that impress. Only 1.2 l/100km more than a manual Mazda 3 GT/Mazda 6

Definitely not achievable in real world...especially for all those bafoons that'll put 87 octane in 'er.

The source is the same (NRCan), so the numbers for the Highlander, the ecoboost Explorer, the Santa Fe none of those are real world numbers either? When using the same test (which is much better than before) it is still better than the competition.  Certainly much more proven than a review done by a tester.

http://canadajournal.net/technology/new-2016-mazda-cx-9-priced-from-35300-photo-44889-2016/

Interesting pricing strategy.  The new, top "Signature" trim is hilarious...just trimwork.

In base trim (with AWD for $37k), this car is an amazing value.  The GS-L will be the most sought-after, I'd think, but certain things are curiously reserved for the GT trim (HUD, ACC, for example).

Still, I think it's priced rather well.

Pricing seems right. GS-L will probably be very popular. I wonder if you can install nav (as you can on the 3/6).

I hope it's still just a $500 SD card - that'd be the most 'fair' way of doing it, rather than saving it exclusively for GT.
