So, who's going and what will you be riding?

I am, and you know on what.

Jeff where are the pics of your bike?

There are also gatherings in Ottawa and Montreal, I highly recommend it, it's such a fun event.

Some pics from last night, a great event!

We took up two entire blocks, I'd estimate 300+ people easily.

Is there any riding that actually happens? Or is this just some bench racing?

No one races.  You ride there with mates, get a coffee, look at bikes, and chat with the owners.  It's a social event.

"Bench racing" is just shooting the BS with friends.   ;)

In plain English, I was wondering if there was an organized ride to go along with the socializing part.

Oh I see.  We just ride in/out with friends, there isn't an organised ride per se.

It's the one thing I was disappointed about after my first motosocial last year. I fully expected it to be like I'm used to where after half an hour of standing around someone leads a ride.

I love going to motosocial but I'm hoping actual riding makes its way into the program down the road as it evolves.

I look like such a clown in the group photo.

@Jacob - I agree, it would be very nice to have an organized ride, but with the sheer number of people that come out to this event, it would be a logistical nightmare. I don't foresee it actually happening, but there's an organized ride that departs from the Lakeshore & Leslie bike meets every Thursday night. I haven't been to it myself, but it's supposed to be decent.

Why don't you just organise a decent ride on the way there, then at least it's not in the dark?

Nothing wrong with riding in the dark - used to do it every wed and fri nights back home.
And beforehand is too early with work.
I've tried walking around to see if anyone's up for a group ride at motosocials but it's not really the point of the event. Which is fine, it's an awesome event as it is.
I might try going on some Lakeshore/Leslie rides.

It's a shame you guys new to motorcycling never got to experience the Parry Sound Sport Bike Rally.  It's incredible to see and be part of the Thunder Run....1000s of sport bikes going on a long ride together.  Plus all of the other fun events.

I still think the best run bike event I've been to was the MotoGP at Indy.  All weekend long, the downtown core of Indiannapolis is closed to car traffic and open to bike traffic only.  On the walls of multiple buildings, they have huge projectors showing MotoGP races.  At the races, they have bike parking, free helmet storage, an outstanding retail area on the infield with many companies, etc..

Let me know if you ever want to go for a ride - I could always use some tips from a seasoned rider like yourself. I went riding with Ronnie a few times and learned some valuable skills.
