And so it begins!

The ACC and blind spot still works tho.

Suspect the forward camera or laser rangefinder failed but radars are ok.

I doubt you can beat the Mercedes thread, that is something else!

How long is the warranty on your car?

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

How long is the warranty on your car?

4/80 base warranty

I got Volvo OEM extended warranty to 8/200 (covers everything unless explicitly included....and the exclusions are like wiper blades and shocks etc. so all the electrical bits are covered)

How much was the Volvo OEM extended warranty to 8/200?
Any adjustable electric shocks on Volvos?

Fairly sure it's the camera that gave it up.

The warranty was around $3200. Prorated refundable for a $80 admin fee. Not bad.

Mine doesn't have fancy dampers. In Europe they do I think plus the new XC90 has air suspension option.

Interesting about the prorated part. Never heard of such a thing for car warranties.

VW do the same, it's still a massive money grab though.

If you have a top spec model with tons of fancy electronics it changes the calculus though... The price is only set on model and maybe engine, not options.

If a radar or control module croaks in that ext warranty phase it pays for itself probably. Never mind everything else that could go wrong.

I'm sure they are making money on it, just saying it may still suit the buyer depending on conditions.

Sounds like we'll be needing a FSC thread at some point.   ;)

Is this a Volvo extended warranty, or aftermarket/private company?

Technically it is aftermarket, but it is Volvo "sanctioned". If you go on the Volvo website for extended warranties this is the one they do. So essentially a subcontractor I guess, but according to everything I have researched it should be indistinguishable from an OEM.

likely the same company who manages the Kia extended warranty we bought (i think the company name is LGM)...most Canadian car companies aren't large enough to administer and manage their own warranty program, so they have it handled by another company...to the end user though, you are still dealing with the manufacturer (even though you technically aren't).
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

So got the car back today (took a while to bring it in as I was sick).

Camera module was acting up so they replaced it. Also fixed a rattle in the door that developed the last month or two.

Overall very undramatic.

Wonder what the $$ would be out of warranty?
