Cheers.  Managed to get out on a quick ride today, getting used to the bike a bit now.

Can't speak from personal experience, but I believe it would work better on the road than on the railroad tracks.  But, hey, maybe I'm wrong!

Some updated pics.

Mods:

Yoshi fender eliminator - Pretty easy to install, had to drill the plate though. Very good construction quality.
Traf-X LED Indicators with new relay - Great quality, very bright, way cheaper than Rizoma, just as good IMHO.
Yamaha Sport Tracker seat - O.M.G. This seat absolutely transformed the bike for me. Way more comfortable, much better body position, and just more confidence overall. I love the fact that it looks great, and that it's an OEM fit. Bought it from a Yamaha dealer in Germany.
Hindle Carbon SuperSport Evolution Exhaust - Another game changer. The noise this bike makes now is superb!
OES Sliders Kit - Just basic protection, again, very good quality and great instructions.
Tech Spec Tank Protectors - Flappy bits of rubber. Now the seat is a bit higher, my legs actually contact these properly!
ECU flash by Vcyclenut - Really really worth it. Can't say enough good things about the fuelling etc. Much less harsh on the decel too, makes the bike easier to ride for sure so.
RAM iPhone mount - Just the basic set up, bolt through the handlebar clamp, short arm, iPhone holder. It's very secure.
Fabbri Gen-X Sport Screen - Looks great, deflects the wind very well.

 ;D

I have a few more things to go on, and the suspension to be done soon too.

I'm constantly tempted by this bike.  When I rode one, I was prepared for "meh" based on it's size and being a triple.  I'd ridden those old 800 triples of decades ago and was less than enthused about another three-lunger.

WHOOPS.  WRONG.

The triple is a GREAT engine - so much fun!  The chassis is a little floppy for my liking, but what can you expect for the price?  I can mod the chassis for not-much-dough and make it how I want it.

Your bike looks great TB.

As a someone who owned a motorcycle in the past, these newer standard/naked bikes are also very appealing to me. With the modern engines/platforms and a more upright ridng style, they sit somewhere in the middle between touring and sport bikes.

With all the aftermarket support,  you get to grow with the bike and decide where on that spectrum between touring and sport you want to be.

Thanks, and yes I agree.  It's definitely sporty enough to ride aggressively, comfy enough to take a passenger regularly (which is why I have kept the pegs on), and upright enough to tour on.  I love it.
