Lotus Elans were RWD.

You forget about the abomination

Everyone forgets about that one, wasn't it an Isuzu engine too?  :rofl2:
^^^   I didn't exactly forget about it.  I knew it existed but I wasn't sure if it was actually sold or ever appeared in NA and mostly, I didn't have the time at that point to go searching for it.   But whatever it was called it had about as much to do with a proper Elan as a Chevy Cavalier did.

I have noticed that...it used to be just out of province/out of country trucks but now it seems to be most of them.

Cords and Citroens had the transmission in front of their longitudinal engines, which helped weight distribution, but made for a pretty long snout.

So why can't we have a transverse layout but with the transmission arranged in some way that allows the front axle to be pushed forward? ???

As I understand it RWD based AWD cars basically have a transmission stuck near the center diff, which is actually pretty close to the front of the car, and there is a small propshaft that goes forward to the front axle. So remove that back half of the drivetrain, replace the center diff with fixed gears (or just integrate that whole thing into the trans), and more or less voila.

I haven't seen a separate center differential except in 4wd truck type systems.  In my Audis and Subaru they are part of the regular transmission and no additional propshafts required.   In fact on my longitudinal Audi drivetrains the entire engine is ahead of the front axles which stick directly out of the side of the transmission.   The center differential is actually at the rear of the transmission.

Dad bought my little brother and sister a mint white 2010 Corolla CE, "enhanced convenience package" (A/C, power windows+locks, VSC, etc.), with 50 km on it. 1 owner, dealer serviced (full records), rust proofed, tinted windows, brand new brakes and all season tires, 1 season old winter tires. Should give years of trouble free motoring.  :)

They don't care about driving so a Corolla is the perfect car. Its also cheap on insurance.  :)

Oh and I forgot to add...no accidents, clean car proof.

Speaking of Owen Sound. We've outsourced the packaging production for a consumer product we're working on to an Ontario company (I'm doing my part to prop up your suck a$$ manufacturing sector) and I just looked to see where the plant is and lo and behold, it's in Owen Sound. Is there an airport there, I was considering sending some one for a press check?

I'll ask the rep. if he knows a grumpy local named Articsteve.  :)

Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing.

Seems like it may have clipped a power line, but if not, it definitely crashed.  That's not a hard landing to most people, if the flaps and an engine broke off.

Pretty neat and rare barn finds of cars in need of restoration.  My Uncle owned a 63 split window and my dad owned a 69 Mach I, so they are both a little special to me.

Yeah, landed short and hit an antenna array, shearing off the landing gear.
