Two thoughts spring to mind

1. 45,500?  That's more than we paid for our  2011 328iXdrive just less than two years ago and it was loaded up with leather, nav and a bunch of other good stuff.

2. 180hp? How do they get the power down that far and still have a turbo on that four banger?
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

Yeah I think that is a bit much for what you get for a BMW.  I mean I would expect that for the 328 with more power but the lower 320 is just too much for my liking.  Personally I would be looking at getting either the BMW X1 (which would have similar driving dynamics and equipment but with the better engine) or an Audi A4 quattro.

45K for a 180 hp 4?

For that price you can get a Q50 Premium AWD Navi with 328 HP!!

Not really a fair comparison. You bought a last year E90; BMW always loads up cars and sells them for discounts in their last year on the market in Canada.

The article says that this model was formerly known as the 320xi but that implies that the previous 320i was available with AWD, which is not true. AWD is new to the entry level 3-series model.

Yeah, you have to be a serious badge whore to take the 320 over a Q50 IMO.

Other wise there are many choices
~48 gets you a IS350 RWD FSport
~44 gets you a IS350 RWD/AWD base
~38 gets you a TL AWD Tech ;D

I think you can even get a C300 with a few options? I would take any of those cars over this thing.

I find with BMW the base price is alright but the options are just murderous.
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

It gets worse, I realized this morning I have NAV.  So that will add more to the price.  How much?  No idea as BMW's website requires java.  I spent an hour last night just to get that to work, and I'm not going to try on my linux box at work.   What a pain!

This car is $39,900 base price the Modern package is only $2,500.  $45,400 is after delivery fees, don't forget to add those into your prices when comparing.  A similarly equipped IS250AWD (premium package) is the same price.

I like everything about the car except:

1) DI engine sounds like a diesel
2) That price is ridiculous for 180hp only a true brand whore would overlook

The 3 Series pricing seems to be disconnected from the competition, and this one is no exception. For instance, the base (Komfort) 2014 A4 has everything this 320xi has and more, plus a more powerful engine (in the 328i class), for less than 40k$ list (42k$ with delivery charges).

BMW's website has to be just about the worst to use. Oh wait, I forgot about Mini!  ;D

Yeah, the entry models have never been a value proposition - the old 323i was RWD only, had a 'crippled' version of a beautiful engine, and barely saved a few grand.  What's the point?

Oh, right..."I drive a BMW"

$48K for an under equipped, 180 horsepower wannabe BMW....no thank you. Even worse, its a slushbox, so that little weed wacker under the hood is really going to struggle.
Lighten up Francis.....

Yup.  It's not for the true enthusiast, but rather the ones that need to show off.  Got a few in my neighbourhood with 323i's.

There are a few DI N20 BMWs on my street and when they go by it sounds like a lawn tractor. Terrifyingly awful.  :shake: :shake:

Engine not struggling, in fact it is too fast, I'm constantly speeding everywhere.

It does sound like a diesel on the outside but not inside.  Lots of hate here.

Because its an almost $50K car with 180 horsepower and the engine sounds agricultural. Do you not agree that this is a car only for badge snobs??
