Gosh that's awesome! I wish MB's insurance would go private, I have 3 cars, 1 trailer and 1 ATV - total insurance bill? $5,160.00 - I have a clean record and the max discount already!!!

You're paying rates comparable to what a typical Albertan would pay.  My family pays some of the lowest rates in the province through our group - even other groups usually pay more.  (Seems teachers are very low claim drivers...)

Most people I know would pay $1200-1500 per vehicle for something like our Highlander or Corolla.

I pay about $1200 for the truck, with business coverage and $5 million  liability
prius and BMW about $1300 with $2 million

When I put full insurance back on the s2000 last month I was advised to raise the liability on our policy to $2M.  It was only an extra $4/month.

Changed insurers this year on the two vehicles. Had been with the teachers' program for probably close to twenty years, but rates went up another $200 this year: just over $2,000 for the two vehicles vs. the $1,600 for the same coverage I found elsewhere.

Wow, where?  I always shop around and haven't found anyone that could match Morgex, much less beat them.

I don't have the policy in front of me, but think it's with Aviva. I had an insurance broker check around for me, and that's what he came up with.

It's likely because I already have home and motorcycle insurance through the same broker - multiple business discount or whatever.

(But I should probably add that my house insurance just jumped from $2,200 to $3,400 with this year's renewal. WTF!?! So might have to call up Morgex again to see what I'd pay if I switched everything back over to them. Facking PITA.  ::) )

Damn.

Some expensive insurance ther heli.  Is it because of the flood few years ago?

My home and auto insurance is about 1700$ a year for 2 cars and two driver, with scotia life.

Used to be with td monnex but scotia beat them on price handily.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

Aviva also wanted more money to renew my policy...went from $1900 to $2500...my broker found a better deal through Wawanesa,  $1650 so I went with it

No, not any extra personal property endorsements. Everything is just expensive here, I guess. I wonder if it's because we built our house in the middle of a forest, on a floodplain...  :shuffle:

Ontario rates are on a rise due to an increased amount of claims that Insurers are paying out. It is a tough marketplace for both the consumers and the insurance company.

That's a lie.  Insurance companies in Ontario are having record profits...and overcharging.

Ontario is the safest place to drive in North America.  Yet we have some of the highest rates.

I'm getting $41/year discount for winter tires. That's a pretty small discount IMO.

Really?  Had an idea about the insurance rates, but not about the safest places to drive.

Just got my renewal for January.  Going up $25 a month.  I assume this is related to the rolling stop sign ticket in the summer.  Can't really complain.  1 ticket in 2016, a minor speeding ticket in 2015, and my wife had a minor speeding ticking in 2015 as well.  And in 2013 we had some minor body work done on the Mazda5.  So it's $148 a month for the Entourage, and the Mazda6

^Yup, after Shane telling me how much insurance was for his MR2 I had to seriously take that into account for retirement plans.  Being "based" in NB might be worth at least a grand or so in lower insurance costs vs Ontario

Add that to lower electricity costs and home base might out east in a few years.

Just looked at my policy online and my two properties are $146.33 per month and my four vehicles are $129.50 per month.  I've been with The Personal for a long time now and absolutely love their rates, service, etc.
