Actually I would take my time and try to find one of these unicorns with a 6 spd manual, LSA>turbo V6  ;D

I'm with you. I check AutoTrader for them once in a while but have never seen one for sale in Canada.

It would have to be an US import....the actually sold a few down there.
Lighten up Francis.....

I am pretty sure he bought his car new.  In this real world you speak of.

For poops and giggles I went over to BMW and priced out a loaded 328....at $60K.

The Infiniti is a screaming bargain and suspension is an easy (ish) fix.

Let me give you a real world example. 2015 335i RWD, M-Sport Package, 6MT.....$54,000

Generally in the real world we compare new cars to new cars and used cars to used cars.   :popo:

That's the price I paid for a new car. Doubt the price has changed too much.

The point was to provide a real world point of comparison of a competitor car, from an enthusiast's perspective. 335 is F#$ing fast...
I love it when a plan comes together.

This review got me thinking about "compact" luxury cars that are easy to live with.

I've concluded I need to buy this and import it in two years time when it's old enough

https://www.autoscout24.com/classified-detail/detail-page/b6fbdad1-f70c-4c7f-b1d3-5b9c101c8967

It may only be 177bhp, but it has the right type of gearbox, comfortable, quiet, real leather seats made to be comfortable.

If you can live with an automatic (sigh) there's always the V8 too! https://www.autoscout24.com/offers/rover-75-4-6i-v8-executive-se-gasoline-blue-d375b338-6741-a337-e053-e350040aa554

want all that comfort and still a proper gearbox? Volvo or Saab. No need to import even.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

SAAB are as dead as Rover (and the 9-3 wasn't as quiet and squishy as the 75).

Newer volvos are auto only. A V60 Cross-Country with a manual gearbox would make me moist in regions I theoretically don't even have.

considering the vintage of that Rover, was thinking a nice plush 9-5 Aero...or a Volvo S60R/V70R. Both extremely comfortable and with manual transmissions. Who cares if Saab is dead - only makes them cheaper.

Lol - should be real fun servicing and finding parts for a 4-5 year old Saab, 4-5 years from now.  Lemme guess, all part of the "charm"?  :rofl2:

::)

most of the car is GM [Epsilon chassis], and the rest are very easily bought from partsforsaabs.com - tons of parts out there for anything you need. Parts for years and years to come.

servicing? PLEASE. It can be serviced by any GM shop or any half-decent indy shop. Easy cars to work on. My indy shop and local GM dealer have no problems whatsoever, even programming a new throttle body that needed to be married to the ECU - that is the hardest thing you will ever encounter. I know, I have a Saab that has had lots of work done to it over the years.

do some research first before jumping to conclusions please?

::)  ::)  ::) Yeah, right.  Not what I hear from my buddy who ditched his wife's 9-3.  And I'm sure GM service centers are consuming valuable inventory space stocking their shelves to the ceiling with parts for your Saab.  Sure.  I can't think of a used car purchase I'd less likely recommend than one from a deader-than-dead brand of middling reliability at best.  So big LOL to that.

Saabs look good parked next to a Lada.
