Used Vehicle Review: Saturn Outlook, 2007-2009

Low asking prices for a used Saturn Outlook make it appear to be a good value against better-known import competitors, says Contributing Editor, Chris Chase, "but I'd think twice about the Outlook," he says.

I still think the Saturn version is the best looking of the Lambda SUVs. The Enclave looks like a giant bar of Dove soap, and the Traverse is very awkward looking from the rear 1/3 views. The Acadia seems pretty decent looking too, although it looks very similar to the Outlook.

Too bad about the reliability though, as these seem like otherwise competent family haulers.

The problem with cloning/rebadging multiple times a problematic automobile, is....the maker now has multiple problematic automobiles.

The Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse are both recommended by Consumer Reports and have average reliability.

The Traverse is one of GM's impressive large, car based three-row SUVs. Each has a spacious and quiet interior, with a third-row seat roomy enough to accommodate adults. Seating for eight is available. Direct fuel injection improved acceleration from the 3.6-liter V6 engine while maintaining fuel economy. Our Traverse returned 16 mpg overall. The smooth engine is mated to a six-speed automatic; it sometimes hesitates to downshift when needed. Handling is responsive, especially given the Traverse's size, and the ride is comfortable. Rear visibility isn't great, but clever extra mirrors reduce side blind spots. Reliability has been average for the AWD and above average for the FWD.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.
