Nice toy but, all in all. given the engine and the equipment level it looks to me like you're paying about 10-12K for the star on the grill.
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

Maybe you can find a deal this winter if you can find a dealer with a manual one hat no one wants... test drove a manual one in the summer, drove like a bigger car, like a c class would... but it takes 4-6 months to custom order one with only sport package, so I didn't order one

Also the price in US is a lot easier to swallow...

Agree. Seems very "counter-Mercedes" to not offer "basic" luxury features. Toy with a star on the hood. Fail.

Mrs tpl has always wanted one of those old "pagoda roof" 280SL Mercedes 2 seaters. I suspect a good one would probably cost more than one of these new ones.

Way back when I was still working, a buddy in the fire-house down the road had an old MB coupe...Dark blue..What a little beauty  .I would guess mid 70's maybe..Lovely little car. It was about 15 years old at that time, in perfect shape...Your wife is right..The old ones were much nicer than the new ones...Jack

$62K......WHAT?!?!?!?!? So I can have an MX5 for $20-25K less or hell, a Shelby Mustang convertible isnt that much more.....good luck selling this.
Lighten up Francis.....

But you get the 3 pointed star......who needs the same amenities you get on a $25K Hyundai on a $62K car when you get the badge snobbery of a Merc?  ;D  ;) ;)

Not disagreeing about the equipment (or the lack of) comment....

But try pulling into the country club or the ritzy hotel downtown in a 25k Hyundai..... just doesn't work.

My C63 has no parking assist or navigation, but I feel like a million bucks driving it.   :)

Youre not actually comparing an AMG C63 to a 4 cylinder stripped out coupe are ya. A C63 is an amazing car, parking assist and navigation, I wouldnt pay extra or want those on any car I buy. If I drop north of $60K on a car and it doesnt have power seats......Im going to cut up the deposit cheque.

So you purchased your C63 to look good for others pulling into the Country club?  Whatever makes you feel good I guess.  I couldn't care less what I drove into a Country Club or an upper class hotel.

For the price of the SLK, I think a Boxster is a better choice if you want a true sports car. Options on these cars are ridiculous and can really send the price soaring.

At least a Boxster is a fun, drivers car. The SLK, not really.

I guess I haven't made my post clear.. I'm just saying that there's gotta be somewhere that this SLK fits... and it's not going to be something a 25k Hyundai would do.

Again I already said I don't agree with how Mercedes packages its equipment.  But it's kind of weird seeing people bringing up 25k Hyundai's or Kia's in a thread about a 60k Euro-luxo-roadster...

I bought my C63 because it is what I like.  Or should I be apologizing to the crowd and trade it in for the unicorn like diesel-manual-AWD-wagon that actually doesn't exist?  Geez.

first of all.  kudos to you for choosing C63.   if i had money and bought automatic, that would be it.   Share pic? :D

secondly, your C63 is the top of the line C class.      and we expect certain things from luxury makes beyond a threshold price (i'm thinking 40~45k) where we expect to find standard luxury features.    this benz eclipses it very comfortably, while managing to not include stuff that we expect.

3rdly, can i have a go in your C63?  ;) ;D   I hear you about the car making you feel like a million bucks.   country club thing, though..  i dunno.   there's a pretty good private golf club near by, with fairly prestigious clientele, but the parking lot isn't full of bmw/benz, jags, etc.   it's got everything, camry, altima, jag, lotus, bentley..

It was your comment on how driving into a Country Club or ritzy hotel in a $25k Hyundai "just doesn't work"  What exactly doesn't work?  Is there fear of being shunned by the Country Club crowd or a Valeter at the hotel?   :)

I'm hoping there's gotta be more than value when it comes to choosing a car.  How it drives, how it looks, how it feels etc...

I think a more apt comment would be why not buy a loaded Miata and pocket the 20+ grand?....or how about a 370Z convertible. If you load up a Z with sport pkg and nav you're still 6-7K ahead and it's way more car with a ton more equipment.
