Found something interesting about my car. It will be one year old in two weeks: build date is 08/14.

I knew it was "old" inventory, but for the life of me I can't understand why it did not sell before? It was a new car with all the wrapping on it when I saw it first, so it was not a showroom demo or anything.

And it's not like it's an odd build or something - black on black is cool - don't get it. The other one I Ihad found was Tungsten silver (beige in VW speak) - it's not a bad beige, but that one I can understand it's taking longer to sell. Puzzled  ???

I noticed that Comfortlines are pretty scarce. There are a lot of Trendlines around, and some loaded Highlines, so maybe the middle trim falls in neither/nor for Golf buyers?

In any case - my win! Now I just need to have the service indicator reset as it began asking for the 1 yr service in 30 days...

You can do that yourself in the menu.

Congratulations, looks great! I think Comfortline is the sweet spot in the Golf range. Love the metallic look dash trim on these mk7s.

Thanks guys!

Loving the car so far, but I find myself googling the word "subwoofer" a lot... ;)

Fuel economy:

On D-Day, we spent quite a bit of time inside the idling car, as it was sunny and 34 pre-humidex. So when I left the dealership, and set depreciation at "start", the fuel econ meter was showing 20.4 l/100km. It's been going down as fast as the tories are spending away our taxes since mid-week, and it's still going down this morning. Now at 7.2 l/100km when I parked.

Congrats, nice car. Is it true that the price is now the same for a TDI vs gas engine? Local ad here in Québec claim so. Also heard over the radio an ad for the Cherokee with diesel "at no extra charge".

Salut Guy,

TDIs are 1500$ off through July, while there are no rebates at all on TSI Golfs (Jettas have an extra 2000$ dealer cashback, so all TSI Jettas are 4000$ off in reality, TDIs 3500$ off, if the dealer doesn't pocket his rebate).

I got mine 3300$ below msrp, as it was "new old stock". Based strictly on incentives, TDI is still more expensive, but by how much will vary depending on the specific unit. The TDI is only 500$ extra in Jettas, quite a deal!! I could have had a NOS Jetta Highline TDI/DSG for 25,700$ all-in + taxes.

Seems to be settling at 6.4 l/100km, but there's still a lot of idling on that first tank.

Did a return drive to Quebec city over the weekend, but having MIL on board meant taking the van. Still managed 8.8 l/100km, and MIL commented on my smooth driving. Compliments from MIL probably means she had taken someting  ;D

Spotting signs along the highway, diesel seems about 6 cents less per litre right now.

Also picked-up a set of four Lyon oem 15" alloys that came off a 2015 Golf Trendline - great find on kijiji! The "redneck alloy" look got old real fast on the Sentra, so the Golf will keep its good looks through the ugly season.
