Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

^That white car is junk....rockers are mostly bondo and undercoating.

The orange car is exactly what I'd want, and at that price I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it were a few hours closer. You're miles better off with that than the pink mess from BAT.

If you bought the pink I'd suggest it be used as a MG B beater. Don't change it, don't invest a lot of money in it, don't restore it. Just run it as a cheap convertible. But like Firm says there are better ones out there. Especially if you are willing to travel. They made a lot of MG Bs.

If it were local and cheap I'd run it a season or so.

This reminds me, I have an '73 MGB parts car for sale, has sat for years and doesn't run, kind of rusty, has a hardtop.

What do you think I can get?  $750?,    $500?,  scrap metal prices?

Depends on how rusty. I'd clean it up ask $1250 settle on $1000 if its restore-able. The hardtops used to bring good money but not sure they do anymore. You'd get that in AB easy.

Mine is not as nice as this, so I figure I really can't get $1k for it.

Bidding has shot up to $2,350 for my purple fantasy, with 4 hrs still to go, so now I can finally stop sorting the car out in my mind. Phew.

But I still have this friend whose talking about letting go his '75 TR-6. No bondo, no needs - lifelong AZ car, still in AZ. Not the same budget though ...  :(

That green one is a pretty serious pos (note the massive amount of bondo visible on the tops of the front fenders). So if yours is worse (in terms of rust) I'd say 700 bucks or so. The hardtop on the green car is actually an aftermarket "snugtop", practically worthless. A factory hardtop (like below) runs $250-500, depending on the condition. The seals can be replaced, but the windows are hard to come by.

Taking a look at past BaT auctions, MGB prices are all over the place, but recent sales like this one below ($5,500) make the purple one seem like a bad deal, even if local. Shipping from LA to New England runs what ... $1,500?

MGB are in a weird place right now. The early cars (69 and older) have really taken off, while the others are still struggling to get any real $. I am sure that within the next 10 years or so that'll change, although I never expect the later cars to catch up to the earlier ones.

I sold my 77 back in February (on Ebay) and it brought $6500 USD. I was pretty happy with that, and it was/is in a condition that's very comparable to the yellow BAT one. The big thing about the car I had was the low mileage (I think 35,000 documented miles) and factory overdrive, plus it was entirely stock/original paint included. When you think about it, it's a pretty cheap way to get into a really fun roadster that's also fairly livable and easy to work on.

It has been said many times, once the Epa et al got a hold of those decent lil 60`s MGBs added weight.. height bumpers and such and strangled the engines they were AWFUL.....................still not worth much IMHO.
Time is to stop everything happening at once

The purple BaT car went for $2,550 USD. If it had stayed in the $1,7xx range, I might have .... made a blunder. Saw a few really nice ones from $5k to $9k locally, with $6.5 looking like the sweet spot for a rubber bumper car. Still affordable, unlike TR-6s... Yellow one on BaT sold at $20k !

MG prices are all over the map. I think this might be the last year I could afford a TR6 if I wanted to.

This is one sounds interesting. The owner obviously knows nothing about it which isn't a great sign.

The purpley one I posted previously is still for sale. I wonder if a low offer would take it.

The MG A is a car I'd love to own. This project I could afford but I've heard A can be complex to restore properly. Not sure I could spend that kind of cash on a pile of parts.

Simca! I might be in at half the price which is what I suspect the seller paid for it.

This MGA would be a better starting point, even with shipping added:

MGA's are awesome....My parents have a few of them. One of them my dad has owned since he was 14 (pictured below). The caution with MGA's though is that they are a little slow to keep up with modern traffic (in stock form) and the ride is comparable to a covered wagon.

They're dead easy to work on and restore too, not sure why anyone would call them complex? That said, the disassembled Calgary car is not a good starting point; not only is trying to finish someone else's mess always a crapshoot, but worse yet someone has filled over all the fender seams on that car. Fixable, but not sure why you'd bother when good examples (like the BaT silver one) are around.

I'd love a TR3.

^Agreed. Even cruder to drive than an MGA, but equally elegant looking.

And yes, that's how they looked leaving the factory. Quite a stunner at the time. But the public wanted something more conventional.
